A Brush With Fame
''A Brush with Fame'' is a British lifestyle game show that aired on ITV from 10 October to 4 November 2005 and hosted by Carol Smillie. Background The programme series was initially piloted by Granada Television using the name Celebrity Face Paint. Format The series took place in each of nine UK regions involving 900 contestants. One hundred people in each of the regions were given half an hour to produce a self-portrait using materials supplied by the programmers. Then, while the artists took a break, Carol and the two judges, Christian Furr and David Lee looked at the painted pictures and chose twenty five people to go into the next round and paint a celebrity guest. The artists could then use their own materials and any medium. Out of the 25, the judges then chose 10 who would go on to the next round and paint a second celebrity. Carol Smillie
Carol Patricia Smillie (born 23 December 1961) is a Scottish former television presenter, actress and model. Smillie became famous as a presenter on British TV during the 1990s and early 2000s. She was best known for assisting Nicky Campbell on the UK version of the game show ''Wheel of Fortune (British game show), Wheel of Fortune'' between 1989 and 1994. Between 1996 and 2003, she was the main presenter on the BBC One home makeover show ''Changing Rooms''. After leaving the Glasgow School of Art, Smillie was a model throughout the 1980s. Her break in television came in 1989 when she auditioned for the role of hostess on ''Wheel of Fortune (British game show), Wheel of Fortune.'' ITV Day was a programming block that broadcast on ITV1 from 9.25 am until 6.00 pm on weekdays and launched on 11 April 2005. The presentation was created by Bruce Dunlop Associates and said "ITV Day effectively creates a new brand, a change in programming and schedule will alter viewer perception". The "ITV Day" brand disappeared from screens on 13 January 2006, as ITV1 presentation was relaunched, along with the entire ITV family of channels. Branding The package was based around a logo and colour scheme that delineated the ITV Day branding from the rest of ITV1. Christian Furr
Christian Furr (born 1966, Heswall, Wirral, England) is an English painter. In 1995 he was commissioned to paint Queen Elizabeth II. Education Furr was educated at Ladymount Primary School, Heswall, and St Anselm's College, Birkenhead. He later did a foundation course at Wirral Metropolitan College, and a Fine Art degree at De Montfort University. Career In 1995, at the age of 28, he was commissioned by the Royal Overseas League to paint Queen Elizabeth II. The Queen chose Furr from among a number of artists, and the portrait was painted at Buckingham Palace. The portrait hangs on permanent display at the Royal Overseas League headquarters in London and is viewable by the public. In 2002, Furr painted Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O'Connor for Westminster Cathedral along with Bishop Patrick O'Donoghue and Bishop George Stack.
