ATP Cup
The ATP Cup was an international outdoor hard court men's tennis team tournament, which ran from 2020 to 2022. The tournament was played across one or three Australian cities over ten days in the lead up to the Australian Open, and featured teams from 12, 16 or 24 countries. The event was the first ATP team competition since the ATP World Team Cup, which was held in Düsseldorf from 1978 to 2012. History On 2 July 2018, ATP director Chris Kermode announced that he had plans to organise a men's team tennis tournament in response to the Davis Cup changing their format six months earlier. The tournament at the time of the announcement had the name ''World Team Cup'', taking from the previous World Team Cup that took place in Düsseldorf from 1978 to 2012. Chris Kermode
Chris Kermode (born 13 January 1965) is a retired English male tennis player, a former tournament director and the executive chairman & president of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) from 2014 to 2019. On 20 November 2013 Kermode was appointed as the ATP executive chairman & president to succeed Brad Drewett who died of an illness in May 2013. His three-year term started on 1 January 2014, and he is based in the ATP's London office. On 7 March 2019 the ATP announced that Kermode would leave his position at year-end. An article on ESPN.com suggests Kermode's departure was due to a "palace coup engineered" in part by Novak Djokovic. Kermode has been involved in tennis for more than 30 years. ATP Rankings
The PIF ATP Rankings (previously known as the Pepperstone ATP Rankings) are the merit-based method used by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) for determining the qualification for entry as well as the seeding of players in all singles and doubles tournaments. The first rankings for singles were published on 23 August 1973 while the doubles players were ranked for the first time on 1 March 1976. Ranking points are awarded according to the stage of tournament reached, and the prestige of the tournament, with the four Grand Slam tournaments awarding the most points. The event is played across multiple Australian cities over 11 days in the leadup to the Australian Open. The Hopman Cup is an international tennis tournament that plays mixed teams (one male and one female) on a country-by-country basis. It was first held in Perth, Western Australia each year from 1989 to 2019, played on indoor hardcourt, before being replaced on the calendar in 2020 by the now defunct ATP Cup, which was in turn replaced by the United Cup. The tournament was played in an eight-team format, with the exception for the years 1990-1995, with twelve teams competing.
