Antimicrobial Resistance
Antimicrobial resistance (AMR or AR) occurs when microbes evolve mechanisms that protect them from antimicrobials, which are drugs used to treat infections. This resistance affects all classes of microbes, including bacteria (antibiotic resistance), viruses (antiviral resistance), Parasitic disease, parasites (antiparasitic resistance), and fungi (antifungal resistance). Together, these adaptations fall under the AMR umbrella, posing significant challenges to healthcare worldwide. Misuse and improper management of antimicrobials are primary drivers of this resistance, though it can also occur naturally through genetic mutations and the spread of resistant genes. Antibiotic resistance, a significant AMR subset, enables bacteria to survive antibiotic treatment, complicating infection management and treatment options. Resistance arises through spontaneous mutation, horizontal gene transfer, and increased selective pressure from Antibiotic misuse, antibiotic overuse, both in medicin ...

Amr (given Name)
Amr () is an Arabic male given name. Etymology It is most commonly written as "Amr", but is also written as "Amro". The word is derived from the tri-literal Arabic root () meaning "to live a long time." When the Arabic letter wāw is added to the end of the Arabic name Umar, the name changes to "Amr". Although very close in writing in Arabic, they are two different names, though sometimes the one is transliterated as the other, so ʿAmr ibn al-ʿAs is sometimes transliterated as "Omar ibn al-Aas". In the same way, it is possible to find Omar ibn al-Khattab transliterated as "Amr ibn al-Khattab". The transcription of "Amr" as "Amro" or "Amru" is another way to differentiate it from the name "Omar". The most prominent person in Islam named ʿAmr was ʿAmr ibn al-ʿAs. People *Amr ibn Abd al-Wud (died 627), champion of Quraish * Amr ibn al-Layth (died 902), ruler of the Saffarid dynasty of Iran * Amr ibn Hisham (died 624), Meccan leader (Muhammad called him Abu Jahl) * Amr ibn J ...

Revolutionary Marxist Alliance
The Revolutionary Marxist Alliance (, AMR) was a Trotskyist movement with a Pabloist orientation, closely aligned with libertarian ideas and active from 1969 to 1974. It founded the publication '' L'Internationale'' in 1970. The AMR distinguished itself from other Trotskyist groups through its emphasis on and promotion of the concept and practices of self-management. The first Revolutionary Marxist Alliance was established in 1969 by Pabloist activists who had split from the Fourth International in 1965. It dissolved in 1974 to join the Unified Socialist Party (PSU, Tendency B). This union was short-lived, as its members later left to establish the Communist Committees for Self-Management (CCA) alongside former activists from the Revolutionary Communist League (LCR). Following the 1981 French presidential election, the "Tendency I" faction of the CCA revived the name AMR. Members of the original AMR, such as Gilbert Marquis and Michel Fiant, participated in this second AMR, ...

Since the DBR9's racing debut in 2005, Aston Martin Racing has expanded to build a variety of cars available to customers, as well as development of Aston Martin's V12 engine for Le Mans Prototype use. Aston Martin Racing's program has earned several successes over the years. Although all cars are built by Prodrive at their factory, Aston Martin plays an integral part in designing the race cars, as well as integrating elements of the race cars back into Aston Martin's road cars. Advanced Meat Recovery
Advanced meat recovery (AMR) is a slaughterhouse deboning process by which the last traces of skeletal muscle meat are removed from animal bones after the primal cuts have been carved off manually. The machinery used in this process separates meat from bone by scraping, shaving, or pressing the meat from the bone without breaking or grinding the bone. AMR meat typically is used as an ingredient in products requiring further processing, such as hot dogs. Unlike mechanically separated meat, AMR meat is comparable in appearance, texture, and composition to meat trimmings and similar meat products derived by hand. In the US, products produced by advanced meat recovery machinery can be labeled using terms associated with hand-deboned product (i.e., "beef", "pork", "beef trimmings", etc.) USDA regulations for procurement of frozen fresh ground beef products state that "Beef that is mechanically separated from bone with automatic deboning systems, advanced lean (meat) recovery (AMR) s ...

Anti-materiel Rifle
An anti-materiel rifle (AMR) is a rifle designed for use against military equipment, structures, and other hardware (materiel) targets. Anti-materiel rifles are chambered in significantly larger calibers than conventional rifles and are employed to eliminate equipment such as engines and unarmored or lightly armored targets. Although not originally designed for use against human targets, the bullet weight and velocity of anti-materiel rifles gives them exceptional long-range capability even when compared with designated sniper rifles. Anti-materiel rifles are made in both bolt-action and semi-automatic designs. The anti-materiel rifle originated in the anti-tank rifle, which itself originated during World War I. While modern tanks and most other armored vehicles are too well protected to be affected by anti-materiel rifles, the guns are still effective for attacking unarmored or lightly armored vehicles. They can also be used against stationary enemy aircraft, missile launchers, ...

Andrew Mlangeni Regiment
The Andrew Mlangeni Regiment (formerly the South African Irish Regiment) is a reserve infantry regiment of the South African Army. History Origins Although all the regular units of Irish origin in the British Army have served in South Africa at some time during its colonial involvement in South Africa, the first autonomous South African units shaped by Irish influences were the Cape Town Irish Volunteer Rifles (raised by a Major O'Reilly in 1885) and Driscoll's Scouts (raised by Capt D.P. Driscoll during the Second Anglo-Boer War of 1899 – 1902). However, an Irish Brigade also fought on the side of the Boer republics. World War I The South African Irish was formed at the outbreak of World War I in August 1914 when three officers (Major George Twomey, Captain J. Jeoffreys and a Captain MacDonald) met at the Irish Club in Johannesburg to raise an Irish regiment from among the citizens of Johannesburg and its surrounding areas. After a request to The Union Defence Force ( ...
