The Alans (Latin: ''Alani'') were an ancient and medieval Iranian nomadic pastoral people of the North Caucasus – generally regarded as part of the Sarmatians, and possibly related to the Massagetae. Modern historians have connected the Alans with the Central Asian Yancai of Chinese sources and with the Aorsi of Roman sources. Having migrated westwards and becoming dominant among the Sarmatians on the Pontic–Caspian steppe, the Alans are mentioned by Roman sources in the . Alan Dawa Dolma (; ; born on 25 July 1987), known professionally as Alan, is a Tibetan singer and she is known for her signature "Tibetan wail", often incorporated into her music. She is a graduate of the PLA Academy of Art, majoring in vocal music and erhu, which she has played since childhood. During her time in college, Alan released a cover album titled ''Shengsheng Zui Rulan'' (2005). In early 2006, she auditioned for Japanese label Avex Trax and was subsequently signed as their first Tibetan artist. In late 2007, Alan moved to Tokyo and made her debut with "Ashita e no Sanka". Alan IV, Duke Of Brittany
Alan IV (c. 1063 – 13 October 1119) was Duke of Brittany from 1072 until his abdication in 1112. He was also Count of Nantes (from c. 1103) and Count of Rennes. His parents were Duchess Hawise and Duke Hoel II. He is also known as Alan Fergant. Through his father, he was of the Breton House of Cornouaille dynasty ( Breton: ''Kerne'' dynasty). He was the last Breton-speaking Duke of Brittany. Norman Conflict A traditional rivalry between Brittany and Normandy continued at the close of the 11th century. Alanus de Rupe (also Alan, Alain de la Roche, or Blessed Alain de la Roche); (c. 1428 – 8 September 1475) was a Roman Catholic theologian noted for his views on prayer. Some writers claim him as a native of Germany, others of Belgium; but his disciple, Cornelius Sneek, says that he was born in Brittany. He died at Zwolle. Alan Osório da Costa Silva (born 19 September 1979), known simply as Alan, is a Brazilian former professional footballer who played as a winger.
