Indie Pop
Indie pop (also typeset as indie-pop or indiepop) is a music genre and subculture that combines guitar pop with a DIY ethic in opposition to the style and tone of mainstream pop music. It originated from British post-punk in the late 1970s and subsequently generated a thriving fanzine, Independent record label, label, and club and gig circuit. Compared to its counterpart, indie rock, the genre is more melodic, less abrasive, and relatively angst-free. Recording Industry Association Of America
The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) is a trade organization that represents the music recording industry in the United States. Its members consist of record labels and distributors that the RIAA says "create, manufacture, and/or distribute approximately 85% of all legally sold recorded music in the United States". RIAA is headquartered in Washington, D.C. RIAA was formed in 1952. Its original mission was to administer recording copyright fees and problems, work with trade unions, and do research relating to the record industry and government regulations. "Weak" is a song by American indie pop band AJR. It was first released on their EP ''What Everyone's Thinking'' via the band's label AJR Productions on September 16, 2016, later becoming the third single for their second studio album ''The Click (album), The Click'' (2017). The song's lyrics describe acceptance of human weakness and feature an uptempo pop composition. S-Curve Records
S-Curve Records is an American record label founded in 2000 by former Mercury Records executive Steve Greenberg. It is based in New York City. In 2001 the label established a distribution and licensing agreement with EMI Records. Among the hits released by S-Curve between 2000 and 2004 were " Who Let the Dogs Out?" by Baha Men, " Stacy's Mom" by Fountains of Wayne and Joss Stone's first two albums, '' the Soul Sessions'' and '' Mind Body & Soul''. All of these artists received multiple Grammy nominations, with Baha Men winning the "Best Dance Recording" Grammy in 2001. ''What Everyone's Thinking'' is the fourth extended play by American indie pop band AJR. It was released on September 16, 2016, via the band's label AJR Productions. ''Infinity'' is the third extended play by American indie pop band AJR, published through Warner Music Group and the band's label AJR Productions. It was released on September 23, 2014, to accommodate the delay of the band's debut studio album, ''Living Room (AJR album), Living Room'' (2015). The EP produced the sole single "Infinity", which received praise from critics and commercial success. The song would later be included on their debut album alongside "Pitchfork Kids". ''6foot1'', alternatively known as the ''I'm Ready'' EP, is the second extended play and major-label debut by American indie pop band AJR. It was released via the band's label AJR Productions on December 20, 2013, under the former title. Later, it was re-released under the latter title via Warner Music Group on March 25, 2014. It was succeeded by the band's ''Infinity'' EP in 2014. Three of the five tracks on ''6foot1'' were included on the band's debut studio album ''Living Room'', released in 2015. Background In October 2012, Hurricane Sandy affected AJR, forcing the band to temporarily stay in a college dorm at Columbia University due to a loss of power at home. ''OK Orchestra'' (stylized in all uppercase), often abbreviated as ''OKO'', is the fourth studio album by American pop band AJR. It was released on March 26, 2021, by the band's own label AJR Productions. The album was supported by five singles, "Bang!", "Bummerland", "My Play", "Way Less Sad", and "World's Smallest Violin". The album was produced by group member Ryan Met. Background During a majority of the production of ''OK Orchestra'', the album was titled ''Mad Orchestra'', with AJR intending to make a " Bang!"-esque "dark and evil sounding" album. The band later decided on a more "melancholy, longing, and hopeful" sound, thinking of the negative mental repercussions that would come with writing a dark album.
