AGS JH22
The AGS JH22 was a Formula One racing car designed by Christian Vanderpleyn and used by the French AGS team in the 1987 Formula One season. Background The JH22 was noted as a development of the Renault-based JH21C that the team had used in two races towards the end of . However, while the JH21C had been fitted with a Motori Moderni turbocharged engine and Pirelli tyres, the JH22 was fitted with a normally-aspirated Ford-Cosworth DFZ V8 engine and Goodyear tyres. It also carried a 1970s-style airbox aft of the fuel tank, although this was replaced with a smaller and more conventional air intake as the season progressed. As in 1986, AGS chose to enter one car for the season, and so built only two chassis, labeled #32 and #33. Larrousse
Larrousse Formula One was a motorsports racing team founded in 1987 by Didier Calmels and former racer Gérard Larrousse, originally under the name Larrousse & Calmels. It was based in Antony, in the southern suburbs of Paris. It was renamed Larrousse after the departure of Calmels following his murder of his wife. March Engineering
March Engineering was a Formula One constructor and manufacturer of customer racing cars from the United Kingdom. Tyrrell Racing
The Tyrrell Racing Organisation was an auto racing team and Formula One constructor founded by Ken Tyrrell (1924–2001) which started racing in 1958 and started building its own cars in 1970. The team experienced its greatest success in the early 1970s, when it won three Drivers' Championships and one Constructors' Championship with Jackie Stewart. The team never reached such heights again, although it continued to win races through the 1970s and into the early 1980s, taking the final win for the Ford Cosworth DFV engine at Detroit in 1983. 1982 European Formula Two Season
The 1982 European Formula Two Championship was the sixteenth edition of the European Formula Two Championship, the main feeder series to Formula One. It was contested over 13 rounds and featured 22 different teams, 53 different drivers, seven different chassis and five different engines. Airbox
An airbox is an empty chamber on the inlet of most combustion engines. It collects air from outside and feeds it to the intake hoses of each cylinder. Older engines drew air directly from the surroundings into each individual carburetor. Modern engines instead draw air into an airbox, which is connected by individual hoses to each carburetor or directly to the intake ports in fuel-injected engines, thus avoiding an extra intake manifold. The airbox allows the use of one air filter instead of multiples, reducing complexity. Motori Moderni was a Formula One engine manufacturer from 1985 through 1987. It was established by the experienced Italian engine designer Carlo Chiti. Chiti, a former Alfa Romeo Formula One chief engineer, formed Motori Moderni to make turbocharged V6 engines for Minardi, known as the ''Tipo 615-90''. AGS JH21C
The AGS JH21C was the first Formula One car used by the French AGS team. It was designed by Christian Vanderpleyn and Michel Costa and entered into two races of the 1986 Formula One season, in Italy and Portugal, driven by Italian Ivan Capelli. The single JH21C was built around a 1983 Renault RE40 monocoque that had been acquired by team owner Henri Julien. Its chassis number was 031. It was fitted with a Motori Moderni V6 turbocharged engine and Pirelli tyres, and painted in the white livery of the team's main sponsor El Charro, an Italian fashion company.
