AFL Sydney
AFL Sydney is an Australian rules football League, based in Metropolitan area, metropolitan Sydney, Australia which has been run since 1903. In 1980 was known as the "Sydney Football League" and renamed the "Sydney AFL" in 1998 before adopting its current name in 2009. UNSW-Eastern Suburbs Bulldogs is an Australian rules football club competing in the Sydney AFL competition. They are based in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney, and affiliated with the University of New South Wales. History The club formed in 1999 out of the merger of the Eastern Suburbs Australian Football Club with the University of New South Wales Australian National Football Club, but its origins are traced back to the East Sydney Australian Football Club in 1880. Inner West Magpies (formerly Western Suburbs AFC) is an Australian rules football club competing in the AFL Sydney league. The club is based in the inner west of Sydney, New South Wales, and its senior teams play their home games at their home ground of Picken Oval; having previously played out of Henson Park in 2009 and 2010. The Western Wolves AFC women's team fully integrated with the men's team before the 2019 AFL Sydney season; in conjunction with this integration the club changed its name in order to better represent its region and community. History The Magpies were formed in 1926 and re-formed in 1947. St George Australian Football Club Inc is an Australian Football club competing in the Sydney AFL, AFL Sydney competition and based in the area of St George, New South Wales. At one stage affiliated with the Adelaide Crows football club, they reverted to their traditional red and white colours in 2009.They are known as the Dragons. History The club formed in 1929. Pennant Hills Demons is an Australian rules football club competing in the Sydney AFL Premier League and based out of the Sydney suburb of Pennant Hills, New South Wales, Pennant Hills. Their home ground moved from Ern Holmes Oval in April 2011 to Mike Kenny Oval History The club was formed in 1971. Pennant Hills were promoted to the top Sydney grade, the SFL (now Sydney AFL Premier Division) in 1977. The club has won the Sydney Premier Division premiership 5 times. ''The Sporting Globe'' was a newspaper published in Melbourne from 1922 until 1996. Establishment The first issue of the paper was published on 22 July 1922 and, for the first four weeks, it was published only on Saturday evenings. On 16 August 1922, a Wednesday afternoon edition was also introduced. Printed on pink paper, the paper was published by Walter R. May for The Herald and Weekly Times at the corner of Flinders and Russell streets, Melbourne. Initially the Saturday edition was priced at 2 d, and the larger Wednesday edition at 3d. With the introduction of the Wednesday edition, the paper also widened its coverage beyond purely sport, acquiring the subtitle "A Journal of Sport, the Stage and the Screen".
