The Liga ACB, known as Liga Endesa for sponsorship reasons, is the top professional basketball division of the Spanish basketball league system. Administered by the Asociación de Clubs de Baloncesto (ACB), Liga ACB is contested by 18 teams, with the two lowest-placed teams relegated to the Primera FEB and replaced by the top team in that division plus the winner of the promotion playoffs. The competition was founded as the ACB Primera División on 1983 following the decision of clubs in the Liga Nacional, founded in 1957, to break away from the Spanish Basketball Federation and professionalize the league. The 2024–25 ACB season, also known as Liga Endesa for sponsorship reasons, is the 42nd season of the top Spanish professional basketball league, since its establishment in 1983. Baloncesto Málaga S.A.D., also known as Unicaja for sponsorship reasons, is a professional basketball club based in Málaga, Spain. The team plays in the Liga ACB and the Champions League. The Supercopa de España de Baloncesto ( English: ''Spanish Basketball Supercup'') is a Spanish annual men's professional basketball competition. The competition is a super cup tournament. The Asociación de Clubes Españoles de Baloncesto (Spanish Basketball Clubs Association), more commonly known as the Asociación de Clubs de Baloncesto (ACB), is a national sports association responsible for administering the Liga Endesa, the main professional basketball league in Spain. In any given season a club plays each of the others in the same division twice, once at their home stadium and once at that of their opponents. The Liga Española de Baloncesto (English language, English: Spanish Basketball League), whose top division was known as Primera División (English language, English: First Division), was the old Spanish basketball league system, 1st Tier level basketball league in Spain, from 1957 to the 1982–83 season. It was organized by the Spanish Basketball Federation, and it was contested by the best clubs of the country. In 1983, the clubs decided to create the Asociación de Clubs de Baloncesto, Basketball Clubs Association, and transformed the top division into the new Liga ACB, although that league was also named Primera División until 1988.
