Ja-Ela (, ) is a town, located approximately north of the city centre of Colombo, Sri Lanka. Madampe is a town situated in the Puttalam District, of North Western Province, Sri Lanka. Madampe is a town with historical importance which was ruled by king Thaniwallbha according to the history. There are two areas: Old town and New town which is also known as Silva town. Old town is located on Colombo - Negombo - Chilaw main road. The new town is located on Kuliyapitiya road. The old town area is mainly occupied by Muslim community and consists of many shops. Kandana (, ) is a suburb of Gampaha in Western Province, Sri Lanka, north of the Colombo city centre. Due to the proximity to Negombo as well as the Bandaranaike International Airport, the suburb is a popular residential area. The neighboring suburbs are Ja-Ela, Ragama, Peralanda and Wattala. The A1 road (commonly known as the ''Colombo - Kandy Road'' or just the ''Kandy Road'') is an List of A-Grade highways in Sri Lanka, A-Grade trunk road in Sri Lanka. It connects the capital city of Colombo with Kandy. History Commonly known as the Kandy Road, the A1 was the first modern highway in the island. Construction began in 1820 under the orders of the British Governor of Ceylon, Sir Robert Wilmot-Horton, 3rd Baronet. Construction was carried out by William Francis Dawson, Captain William Francis Dawson—who died during the project—along with Thomas Skinner (Ceylon), Major Thomas Skinner. Wattala
Wattala (, ) is a large suburb of Gampaha district , in Western Province, Sri Lanka, situated around 9 km from Colombo city centre. This suburb is situated on A3 highway from Colombo to Negombo. Around Wattala, there are many villages and towns. People from all walks of life live in this area. The traditional fisher folk, large sections of the working class, many types of white collar workers, a fair number of professionals and even some richer folk live here. Churches, Buddhist temples, Hindu temples, mosques, schools of various grades and many private dispensaries are spread throughout the area. Though it is a majority Roman Catholic area, people of many faiths live here in peaceful coexistence. A sizable population also exists of minority Tamils and a smaller percentage of Muslims.
