A254 Road
The A254 is a short road running northwest–southeast on the Isle of Thanet in East Kent. The whole length of the road is within Thanet District Council and is a non-primary route. Route Margate The road begins in the centre of the Thanet town of Margate, at a roundabout with the A28, B2051 and the B2055 along the seafront, where it heads south-eastwards along Eaton Road, passing the Dreamland Amusement Park. The road continues to travel south-eastwards along Queen's Avenue, within the suburbs of Margate, until it briefly splits into a small one-way system where it meets the A255. This is also where the A255 starts. The A254 then bends to the right, travelling southwards along Ramsgate Road. Margate, Kent
Margate is a seaside town on the north coast of Kent in south-east England. The town is estimated to be 1.5 miles long, north-east of Canterbury and includes Cliftonville, Garlinge, Palm Bay and Westbrook. The town has been a significant maritime port since the Middle Ages, and was associated with Dover as part of the Cinque Ports in the 15th century. It became a popular place for holidaymakers in the 18th century, owing to easy access via the Thames, and later with the arrival of the railways. Popular landmarks include the sandy beaches and the Dreamland amusement park. A28 Road
The A28 is a trunk road in the counties of Kent and East Sussex in south east England, connecting Margate, Canterbury, Ashford and Hastings. Starting at the seaside resort of Margate at the north-east point of Kent, the A28 runs inland and west-southwest to the cathedral city of Canterbury, before passing through the chalk hills of the North Downs via the gap cut by the River Stour, to the town of Ashford in the Vale of Holmesdale. From here, the A28 proceeds via the market town of Tenterden, to the East Sussex seaside town of Hastings, on the English Channel. Dover
Dover () is a town and major ferry port in Kent, South East England. It faces France across the Strait of Dover, the narrowest part of the English Channel at from Cap Gris Nez in France. It lies south-east of Canterbury and east of Maidstone. The town is the administrative centre of the Dover District and home of the Port of Dover. Broadstairs
Broadstairs is a coastal town on the Isle of Thanet in the Thanet district of east Kent, England, about east of London. It is part of the civil parish of Broadstairs and St Peter's, which includes St Peter's, and had a population in 2011 of about 25,000. Situated between Margate and Ramsgate, Broadstairs is one of Thanet's seaside resorts, known as the "jewel in Thanet's crown". The town's coat of arms's Latin motto is ''Stella Maris'' ("Star of the Sea"). The name derives from a former flight of steps in the chalk cliff, which led from the sands up to the 11th-century shrine of St Mary on the cliff's summit. A256 Road
The A256 is a major road running along the east coast of Kent between the Isle of Thanet and Dover. It is operated by Kent County Council as a primary route, and has seen investment in the past to connect traffic to the Port of Ramsgate, and to the Pfizer research centre in Sandwich. Route The A256 begins on the edge of Broadstairs with the A255. Within Thanet, it runs through the Westwood retail park, Westwood Cross, and Haine Road. It meets the A299 Thanet Way from Faversham at the Lord of the Manor junction, where it becomes a major road. From here, it heads south towards the former Richborough Power Station, Sandwich and Dover as a high quality road. The Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother Hospital is a health facility in Margate, Kent, England. It is managed by the East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust. History The hospital has its origins in the Margate Cottage Hospital which was established at Victoria Road in Margate in 1876. In the 1920s it was decided to relocate the hospital to its current site in St Peters Road. The new facility was opened by Prince and Princess Arthur of Connaught as the Margate and District General Hospital in July 1930. Dreamland Margate
Dreamland Margate is an amusement park and entertainment centre based on a traditional English seaside funfair located at Margate, Kent, England. The site of the park was first used for amusement rides in 1880, although the Dreamland name was not used until 1920 when the park's Grade II* listed Scenic Railway wooden rollercoaster was opened. The number of amusements at the park increased during the 1960s and 1970s, and in 1981 the site was sold to the Dutch Bembom brothers, who renamed it "Bembom Brothers White Knuckle Theme Park". The name remained until it reverted to Dreamland in 1990. In the early 2000s, the park began to enter into decline, and a number of rides were sold to other theme parks.
