A route (or road) number, designation or abbreviation is an identifying numeric (or alphanumeric) designation assigned by a highway authority to a particular stretch of roadway to distinguish it from other routes and, in many cases, also to indicate its classification (e.g. motorway, primary route, regional road, etc.), general geographical location (in zonal numbering systems) and/or orientation (north-south v. east-west). The numbers chosen may be used solely for internal administrative purposes; however, in most cases they are also displayed on roadside signage and indicated on maps. The Shanghai Outer Ring Expressway (), designated S20, is a ring expressway that surrounds the inner districts of the city of Shanghai, China. The different sections of the road formerly had specific names in relation to the cardinal directions. For instance, the eastern portion of the expressway was named 上海环东一大道 (Huandong Avenue (No. 1), literally ''Eastern Ring No. 1 Avenue''), the western portion of the expressway was named 上海环西一大道 (Huanxi Avenue (No. 1), literally ''Western Ring No. 1 Avenue''), and so on. The S20 expressway crosses the Huangpu River twice. At the southern end, it uses the Xupu Bridge, and at the northern end, it uses the Outer Ring Tunnel. The "A" zone includes county highways in Lassen, Plumas, Shasta, Siskiyou, and Tehama counties. A1 County Route A1 (CR A1), more commonly known as Route of the Olympic Torch, is a county route in Lassen County, California, United States. A20 Road (Northern Ireland)
The A20 is a road in County Down in Northern Ireland. It runs from Belfast to Newtownards and on to Portaferry. Beginning as the Newtownards Road at the junction of Bridge End close to Belfast city centre, the road runs in an easterly direction through east Belfast. The early parts of the road are mainly working-class Protestant districts with strong links to the nearby Harland & Wolff shipyard. After the junction of the Holywood Road, it becomes the Upper Newtownards Road and enters the middle-class areas of Ballyhackamore, Knock and Stormont, where it passes the Parliament Buildings. After leaving Belfast and passing through Dundonald, the road becomes a dual carriageway, passing through a mainly agricultural area before arriving in Newtownards. After Newtownards, the road follows the Strangford Lough shore to Portaferry, close to the end of the Ards Peninsula. Sturt Highway
Sturt Highway is an Australian national highway in New South Wales, Victoria, and South Australia. It is an important road link for the transport of passengers and freight between Sydney and Adelaide and the regions along the route. Initially an amalgam of trunk routes, the Sturt Highway was proclaimed a state highway in NSW in 1933. In 1955, the route was allocated a National Route number (20). It was included in the National Highway system in 1992, forming the Sydney-Adelaide Link. The A20 is entirely located in the Dutch province South Holland and connects the N213 road from the Westland municipality with the cities of Rotterdam and Gouda, where it connects to the A12 motorway at the interchange Gouwe.
