9th South Indian International Movie Awards
The 9th South Indian International Movie Awards is an awards event held at Hyderabad International Convention Centre, Hyderabad on 18–19 September 2021. The ceremony (9th SIIMA) recognised and honoured the best films and performances from Telugu cinema, Telugu, Tamil cinema, Tamil, Malayalam cinema, Malayalam and Kannada cinema, Kannada films and music released in 2019 and 2020, along with special honors for lifetime contributions and a few special awards. In 2020, the awards ceremony could not take place due to COVID-19 pandemic in India. So, it was scheduled for 11–12 September 2021. Later, it was rescheduled to 18–19 September 2021. The nomination list for the main awards was announced in August 2021. Sreemukhi, Sundeep Kishan and Dhanya Balakrishna have hosted the 2019 section (first day) of the awards ceremony. South Indian Cinema
Cinema of South India, refers to the cinema of the four major film industries in South India; primarily engaged in making feature films in the four major Dravidian languages of the region, namely Telugu cinema, Telugu, Tamil Cinema, Tamil, Malayalam cinema, Malayalam and Kannada cinema, Kannada. They are often colloquially referred to as Tollywood, Kollywood, Mollywood and Sandalwood, respectively. The South Indian International Movie Awards (SIIMA Awards) rewards the artistic and technical achievements of the South Indian film industry. It was launched in 2012 by Vishnu Vardhan Induri and Brinda Prasad Adusimilli to appreciate and honour film makers from across the South Indian film industries: Telugu cinema, Tamil cinema, Kannada cinema, and Malayalam cinema, and provide a platform to promote South Indian films in international markets. The 10th South Indian International Movie Awards is an awards event that took place in Bengaluru, India, on 10–11 September 2022.
