Fifth Avenue is a major thoroughfare in the borough (New York City), borough of Manhattan in New York City. The avenue runs south from 143rd Street (Manhattan), West 143rd Street in Harlem to Washington Square Park in Greenwich Village. The section in Midtown Manhattan is one of the most expensive List of shopping streets and districts by city, shopping streets in the world. Fifth Avenue carries Bidirectional traffic, two-way traffic between 135th Street (Manhattan), 143rd and 135th Streets, and one-way traffic southbound for the rest of its route. The entire avenue carried two-way traffic until 1966. Fifth Avenue Vietnam Peace Parade Committee
The Fifth Avenue Vietnam Peace Parade Committee was a coalition of organizations which coordinated events opposing the Vietnam War in the mid-1960s. It coordinated its constituent groups to stage anti-war parades, rallies, and "peace-ins" primarily in New York City. Named after Fifth Avenue in Manhattan, it was based on 17th Street near Union Square. At the start of 1968, it included about 150 groups. A rally and march it organized with the Spring Mobilization against the War in Vietnam in 1967 featured Martin Luther King Jr., Stokely Carmichael, Benjamin Spock, and Dave Dellinger in Central Park. Leader Norma Becker was a member of the established War Resisters League. Fifth Avenue High School
Fifth Avenue High School is a defunct school located at 1800 Fifth Avenue in the Bluff (Pittsburgh), Bluff neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States. Built in 1894 as a large Romanesque architecture, Romanesque/Gothic Revival building, it served the Pittsburgh Public Schools until its closure in 1976. For over thirty years, the building sat empty, boarded up, and fenced off until it was eventually converted into other uses. Fifth Avenue was the first fireproof school in Pennsylvania and was home to the Alpha chapter of the National Honor Society. Its colors were red and white, and the mascot was the Archer, so chosen because of the school's architecture and hallways filled with Gothic and Victorian arches lined with red and white tile. The 5th Avenue is a candy bar introduced in 1936, consisting of peanut butter crunch layers enrobed in chocolate. It is currently produced and marketed by The Hershey Company. The bar is similar to the Clark Bar which was first produced in Pittsburgh in 1917 by the D.L. Clark Company, now produced by the Boyer Candy Company of Altoona, Pennsylvania. It is also similar in composition to the Butterfinger candy bar, first developed and manufactured by Curtiss Candy Company, later manufactured by successors including Nestlé and Ferrara. The Fifth Avenue Theatre was a Broadway theatre in Manhattan, New York City, United States, at 31 West 28th Street and Broadway (1185 Broadway). It was demolished in 1939. Built in 1868, it was managed by Augustin Daly in the mid-1870s. In 1877, it became the first air-conditioned theatre in the world.
