3 Kings (jazz Trio)
The 3 Kings was a jazz trio, known as the Three Blind Mice, as they wore dark glasses. They were formed at Hot Springs High School by Bill Clinton on tenor saxophone, Randy Goodrum on piano and Joe Newman alternating with Mike Hardgraves on drums. They played in the school auditorium, the Quapaw Community Center and at the YMCA and YWCA, where high school teenagers would dance. Their advertising slogan was "swing pretty hard with some cool jazz". Jazz Trio
A jazz trio is a group of three jazz musicians, often a piano trio comprising a pianist, a double bass player and a drummer. Jazz trios are commonly named after their leader, such as the Bill Evans Trio. "Three Blind Mice" is an English-language nursery rhyme and musical round.I. Opie and P. Hot Springs High School (Arkansas)
Hot Springs World Class High School (HSWCHS) is a public magnet secondary school located in Hot Springs, Arkansas, United States. HSWCHS is one of seven public high schools in Garland County and the sole high school of the Hot Springs School District. The school's 1914 facility is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and its academic programs include Advanced Placement (AP) coursework and International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme. It was a segregated school and Hot Springs refused to integrate for more than a decade after Brown v. Tenor Saxophone
The tenor saxophone is a medium-sized member of the saxophone family, a group of instruments invented by Adolphe Sax in the 1840s. The tenor and the alto are the two most commonly used saxophones. The tenor is pitched in the key of B (while the alto is pitched in the key of E), and written as a transposing instrument in the treble clef, sounding an octave and a major second lower than the written pitch. Modern tenor saxophones which have a high F key have a range from A2 to E5 (concert) and are therefore pitched one octave below the soprano saxophone. People who play the tenor saxophone are known as "tenor saxophonists", "tenor sax players", or "saxophonists". Randy Goodrum
Charles Randolph Goodrum (born July 7, 1947) is an American songwriter, pianist, and producer. Goodrum has written number one songs in each of the four decades since his first number one hit, 1978's " You Needed Me". Goodrum's songs have appeared on the country, pop, jazz, rock, R&B and adult contemporary charts. An accomplished pianist, his music has been used extensively in film and television. Early life and education Goodrum was born in Hot Springs, Arkansas to Winnie Goodrum and Bud Goodrum, a physician. He began to play the piano by ear as a small child, imitating his older brother.
