31st National Assembly Of Quebec
The 31st National Assembly of Quebec was the provincial legislature in Quebec, Canada that was elected in the 1976 Quebec general election. It sat for six sessions from 14 December 1976 to 23 December 1976; from 8 March 1977 to 22 December 1977; from 21 February 1978 to 20 February 1979; from 6 March 1979 to 18 June 1980; on 24 October 1980 (one day); and from 5 November 1980 to 12 March 1981. The Parti Québécois led by René Lévesque came to power for the first time, and organized the 1980 Quebec referendum, 1980 Quebec sovereignty referendum, which resulted in a win for the "no" side. The Quebec Liberal Party opposition was led by interim leader Gérard D. Levesque and later by Claude Ryan. Abitibi-Ouest is a provincial electoral district in the Abitibi-Témiscamingue region of Quebec, Canada, that elects members to the National Assembly of Quebec. It notably includes the municipalities of Amos, La Sarre, Macamic, Barraute, Palmarolle, Trécesson, Sainte-Germaine-Boulé and Dupuy. Beauharnois (provincial Electoral District)
Beauharnois () is a provincial electoral district in the Montérégie region of Quebec, Canada that elects members to the National Assembly of Quebec. The district notably include the city of Salaberry-de-Valleyfield. It was created in 2001 from parts of Beauharnois-Huntingdon, Châteauguay and Salaberry-Soulanges. In the change from the 2001 to the 2011 electoral map, its territory was unchanged. An earlier version of the Beauharnois electoral district had been created for the 1867 election (and an electoral district of that name existed earlier in the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Canada and the Legislative Assembly of Lower Canada). Its last election was in 1985. It disappeared in the 1989 election and its successor electoral district was Beauharnois-Huntingdon. Laurent Lavigne (politician)
Laurent Lavigne (10 August 1935 in Montreal, Quebec – 3 August 2017) was a member of the House of Commons of Canada from 1993 to 1997. His career has been in teaching and agriculture. He was elected in the Beauharnois—Salaberry electoral district under the Bloc Québécois party in the 1993 federal election, thus serving in the 35th Canadian Parliament. He did not seek a second term in office and therefore left Canadian politics following the 1997 federal election. Lavigne was also a member of the National Assembly of Quebec from 1976 to 1985 in Beauharnois. Fabien Roy
Fabien Roy (; April 17, 1928 – October 31, 2023) was a Canadian politician who was active in Quebec in the 1970s. Roy was elected to the National Assembly of Quebec and the House of Commons of Canada, and advocated social credit theories of monetary reform. Background Roy was born in Saint-Prosper, Quebec, the son of Anna-Marie (Goulet) and Fridolin Roy, an accountant. He studied accounting, sales management, and human resources in the Saint-Georges seminary, and commercial law, political economy and business administration at Université Laval. In 1980, following his departure from politics, he studied property valuation. Roy was an accountant for the Saint-Prosper agricultural co-operative from 1945 to 1949, and secretary of the Federation of Co-operative Trucking (Quebec South district) from 1949 to 1952, and for the Sherbrooke district from 1952 to 1953. Jacques Baril
Jacques Baril (born February 6, 1942) was a Canadian politician, cabinet minister and a five-term Member of the National Assembly of Quebec. Early life Jacques Baril was born in the town of Princeville, Quebec in 1942. He was educated at l'École Sacré-Cœur de Princeville before working as a mechanic at a local garage. In 1966, he began working as a dairy farmer. It was his work as a farmer that opened the door to his political activities. Baril became the director of the Union of Agricultural Producers of Quebec in 1974. He was also the founder of the local beef cooperative in the Arthabaska region. Later he would shift his work toward municipal politics, becoming a municipal councilor in Princeville and organizing locally for the Parti Québécois.
