The 2014 United States House of Representatives elections in California were held on Tuesday, November 4, 2014, with a primary election on June 3, 2014. Voters elected the 53 U.S. representatives from the state of California, one from each of the state's 53 congressional districts. The elections coincided with the elections of other offices, including a gubernatorial election. Almost all seats in California retained their partisan control from the 2012 house elections. The sole exception was California's 31st congressional district, which flipped to the Democratic party. In that race, Pete Aguilar received 51.7% of the vote and defeated Paul Chabot. The 2022 United States House of Representatives elections in California were held on November 8, 2022, to elect representatives for the 52 seats in California (reduced from 53 in the 2020 United States redistricting cycle, redistricting cycle following the 2020 United States census). This marked the first time in the state's history that it lost a seat. This was the second election using congressional districts drawn by the California Citizens Redistricting Commission (after 2012 United States House of Representatives elections in California, 2012 following the 2010 United States Census, 2010 census). The ''Daily Democrat'' is the daily newspaper in Woodland, California. The paper is owned by Digital First Media. It is the oldest paper published in Yolo County, California. History In 1857, the weekly newspaper ''Yolo County Democrat'' was founded in Cacheville by William L. Jernegan and M. E. Everts. Samuel Ruland served as the paper's first editor. After about three months Everts withdrew and the paper ceased after a year. M. P. Ferguson acquired the property and revived the paper in 1859 as ''The Cacheville Spectator''.
