2025 Women's World Matchplay
The 2025 Women's World Matchplay (known for sponsorship reasons as the 2025 Betfred Women's World Matchplay) was the fourth edition of the women's darts tournament organised by the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC). It was held at the Winter Gardens, Blackpool, Winter Gardens in Blackpool, England on 27 July 2025, taking place in the afternoon before the 2025 World Matchplay, main tournament's final. The total prize fund was £25,000, with the winner receiving £10,000 and earning qualification for the 2025 Grand Slam of Darts and the 2026 PDC World Darts Championship. The tournament, sponsored by Betfred, featured the top eight players on the one-year Women's World Matchplay Order of Merit, based on earnings won during the 2024 PDC Women's Series, 2024 and 2025 PDC Women's Series, 2025 seasons of the PDC Women's Series. Seeding (sport)
In sport, seeding is the practice of separating the most skilled competitors from each other in the early rounds of a tournament. Players or teams are "planted" into the bracket in such a manner that the best do not meet until later in the competition, usually based on ranking from the regular season. The term was first used in tennis, and is based on the notion of scattering the top players' names across the bracket in the way that a farmer scatters seeds. The World Matchplay, also known as the Betfred World Matchplay for sponsorship purposes, is a professional darts tournament and one of three legs of the Triple Crown. It is played in a legs format, and is run by the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC). Luke Humphries is the current champion after winning the 2024 edition. History The World Matchplay has been played annually since 1994 in the Empress Ballroom at the Winter Gardens, Blackpool. The first ever winner was Larry Butler, who beat Dennis Priestley 16–12, and the current holder is Luke Humphries. The 1995 World Matchplay turned out to be Jocky Wilson's last appearance in a major televised event. The 2022 Cazoo Grand Slam of Darts, was the sixteenth staging of the Grand Slam of Darts, organised by the Professional Darts Corporation. The event took place at the Aldersley Leisure Village, Wolverhampton, 12–20 November 2022. Aileen de Graaf (born 25 April 1990) is a Dutch darts player who plays in World Darts Federation (WDF) and Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. Career De Graaf started to play darts in 2007 and from 2010, played ranking tournaments of the NBD. Since 2012, she plays the BDO/World Darts Federation, WDF circuit and already won a lot of tournaments or at least reached the later rounds.
