2025 Cavite Local Elections
Local elections were held in the province of Cavite on Monday, May 12, 2025, as part of the 2025 Philippine general election. Voters selected candidates for all local positions: a mayor, vice mayor, and councilors, as well as members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, the governor, vice governor, and representatives for the Legislative districts of Cavite, eight districts of Cavite. Background Incumbent Governor Jonvic Remulla and Vice Governor Athena Tolentino initially intended to seek reelection in 2025, having filed their certificates of candidacy on October 1, 2024. Abeng Remulla
Francisco Gabriel "Abeng" Diaz Remulla (born May 25, 1993) is a Filipino politician who has served as the 34th governor of Cavite since 2025. A member of the National Unity Party (Philippines), National Unity Party, he has served as a member of the Cavite Provincial Board for the Legislative districts of Cavite, seventh district since 2023. Born to a political family based in Cavite, Remulla studied public administration at the University of the Philippines Diliman. After graduating, he held senior roles in the offices of his father, Jesus Crispin Remulla, Jesus Crispin, before succeeding his brother, Crispin Diego Remulla, Crispin Diego, in the provincial board. Crispin Diego Remulla
Crispin Diego "Ping" Diaz Remulla (born September 28, 1990) is a Filipino politician who has served as the representative for Cavite's seventh district since 2023. Before his election, Remulla served as a member of the Cavite Provincial Board from 2019 to 2023, and as a member of the Indang Municipal Council from 2018 to 2019. Early life and career Remulla was born on September 28, 1990, in the then-municipality of San Juan in Metro Manila. He is one of the sons of Jesus Crispin Remulla. He entered politics in 2018 upon becoming a municipal councilor of Indang, Cavite, from 2018, serving until 2019, when he sought a seat in the Cavite Provincial Board. Bacoor (), officially the City of Bacoor (), is a Cities of the Philippines#Legal classification, component city in the Provinces of the Philippines, province of Cavite, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 664,625 people, making it the 15th most populous city in the Philippines and the second largest city in the province of Cavite after Dasmariñas. Cavite's 2nd congressional district is one of the eight congressional districts of the Philippines in the province of Cavite. It has been represented in the House of Representatives of the Philippines since 1987. The district consists of the northeastern city of Bacoor. It is currently represented in the 19th Congress by Lani Mercado of Lakas–CMD. Noveleta
Noveleta, officially the Municipality of Noveleta (), is a municipality in the province of Cavite, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 49,452 people. History Noveleta was originally a barrio of the municipality of Kawit (Cavite El Viejo) and some part of Cavite City (Dalahican). It was made an independent pueblo on January 5, 1868, by Gen. Jose dela Gandera y Navarro. Ironically, Noveleta was referred to by the Spaniards as ''Tierra Alta'' meaning higher ground as it was more elevated than Cavite la Punta (now Cavite City). The name Noveleta is said to have originated from ''Nueva Isla'' or (new island), a term frequently used by the Spaniards, referring to the locality. Kawit, officially the Municipality of Kawit (), is an urban municipality of the Philippines, municipality in the Philippine Province, province of Cavite, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 107,535. It is one of the notable places that had a major role in the country's history during the 1800s and 1900s. Cavite City
Cavite City, officially the City of Cavite ( and ) is a Cities of the Philippines#Legal classification, component city in the Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 100,674 people. The city was the capital of Cavite, Cavite Province from its establishment in 1614 until the title was transferred to the newly created, more accessible city of Trece Martires in 1954. The Sangguniang Bayan () is the local legislative branch of the municipal governments in the Philippines. It is responsible for passing ordinances and resolutions for the administration of a municipality. Its powers are defined by the Local Government Code, passed by Congress in 1991. Plurality Block Voting
Plurality block voting is a type of block voting method for multi-winner elections. Each voter may cast as many votes as the number of seats to be filled. The candidates with the most votes are elected.
