2025 BAL Playoffs
The 2025 BAL playoffs will be the postseason tournament of the 2025 BAL season which determined the champions of the fifth Basketball Africa League (BAL) season. The playoffs will begin on 6 June 2025 with the seeding games and finish on 14 June 2025 with the 2025 BAL final, final. The playoffs will be held in the SunBet Arena in Pretoria, South Africa. Qualified teams Al Ahli Tripoli (basketball), Al Ahli Tripoli, Al Ittihad Alexandria (basketball), Al Ittihad Alexandria and Kriol Star made their playoff debuts. Kriol Star became the first team from Cape Verde to qualify for the playoffs. SunBet Arena
SunBet Arena, also known as the Sun Arena at Times Square, is a multi-purpose Arena, indoor arena based in Waterkloof Glen in Pretoria, City of Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality, Tshwane in South Africa. Opened in 2017, the arena is owned by hotel and gaming group Sun International and located at the Time Square Casino. The arena has a capacity of 8,500 people for sporting events and seated concerts, and 10,000 for standing concerts. Sun International invested South African rand, R 4.2 billion (approximately 330 million $USD at the time). The arena was opened on 4 November 2017 with the Unison Celebration Show as its first event. Omar Abada
Omar Abada (, born 20 April 1993) is a Tunisian professional basketball player who plays for Club Africain of the Championnat Pro A. Abada also plays for the Tunisia national basketball team. Born in Tunis, he started his career in 2010 with Étoile de Radès where he stayed for eight seasons. In 2018, Abada played a year in France for Saint-Chamond. A year later, he returned to Tunisia to play for US Monastir. With Tunisia, he has won the AfroBasket tournament in 2017 and 2021, while being named to the All-Tournament Team in 2021. Professional career Abada started his career with Étoile de Radès in the Tunisian Championnat National A and helped the team win two national championships. In the 2017 FIBA Africa Champions Cup he was named to the All-Star Team. In the 2018–19 season, Abada played one season in France for Saint-Chamond of the LNB Pro B, the national second tier. 2024–25 Petro De Luanda Basketball Season
Petro de Luanda plays the 2024–25 season in the Angolan Basketball League and the Basketball Africa League (BAL), as well as in two national cup competitions. This season was the first without Carlos Morais, whose 22-year tenure with Petro ended when he signed with rivals Interclube. Other notable players who left were Jone Pedro (after 5 years) and Gerson Gonçalves (after nine years). Petro successfully defended its national title by defeating Primeiro de Agosto in the finals in five games. It was the eighteenth title of Petro, and the sixth consecutive championship. It was the second team to win six straight titles, following Primeiro de Agosto's streak between 2000 and 2005.
