2024–25 Stanford Cardinal Men's Basketball Team
The 2024–25 Stanford Cardinal men's basketball team represented Stanford University during the 2024–25 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. They played their home games at Maples Pavilion. Led by first-year head coach Kyle Smith, this marked the inaugural season for Stanford as members of the Atlantic Coast Conference. The team started the season well, winning six straight games, a streak which culminated in a 71–69 win at Santa Clara. The team then went on a two game losing streak, losing in the Acrisure Holiday Invitational to Grand Canyon and to Cal Poly. They rebounded to win three straight games, including a rivalry match and their ACC opener against California. That streak ended as the Cardinal faced their first ranked team of the season in number ten Oregon. They fell at a neutral site in the San Jose Tip-Off 76–61. Kyle Smith (basketball)
Kyle Andrew Smith (born June 26, 1969) is an American college basketball coach who is the men's head coach for the Stanford Cardinal of the ACC. Prior to joining the Cardinal, Smith was the head coach at Columbia University, the University of San Francisco, and Washington State University. In his final season at Columbia, he led the team to a CIT Championship over UC Irvine. His coaching style has been dubbed “Nerdball”, which is a system that utilizes analytics to track and make decisions on many aspects about the team. Early life Smith was born in El Paso, Texas, and raised on the Fort Bliss Army base. He played basketball at Alief Hastings High School in Houston, and graduated in 1988. Playing career Smith was a member of New York's Hamilton College men's basketball team that achieved a 26–1 record his junior season and achieved the national Division III #1 ranking. The 2024–25 NC State Wolfpack men's basketball team represented North Carolina State University during the 2024–25 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Wolfpack were led by eighth-year head coach Kevin Keatts and played their home games at Lenovo Center in Raleigh, North Carolina as members of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). The Wolfpack started the season well with five straight wins over non-Power 4 opponents before traveling to San Diego, California to participate in the Rady Children's Invitational. The 2024 Pac-12 Conference men's basketball tournament (branded as the 2024 Pac-12 Men's Basketball Tournament presented by Acura for sponsorship reasons) was a postseason men's basketball tournament for the Pac-12 Conference held March 13–16, 2024, at T-Mobile Arena on the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada. The winner of the tournament, Oregon, received the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. Seeds The bracket was set on in March 9, 2024. The 2025 ACC men's basketball tournament was the postseason men's basketball tournament for the Atlantic Coast Conference held at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, North Carolina, from March 11–15, 2025. It was the seventy-second edition of the tournament, and fourteenth edition held in Charlotte. The tournament was sponsored by T. Rowe Price.
