2024–25 Georgetown Hoyas Men's Basketball Team
The 2024–25 Georgetown Hoyas men's basketball team represented Georgetown University in the 2024–25 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Hoyas, led by second-year head coach Ed Cooley, were members of the Big East Conference. The Hoyas played their home games in Washington, D.C., at both Capital One Arena and McDonough Gymnasium. Previous season After cutting ties with head coach Patrick Ewing in 2023 after six years at the helm, the Hoyas played their first season under head coach Ed Cooley, who had left the head coaching position at Big East rival Providence College to come to Georgetown. Under Cooley, the Hoyas had their third historically bad season in a row in 2023–24, starting 7–4 in non-conference games but finishing the season 9–23 overall and 2–18 in Big East play. Ed Cooley
Ed Cooley (born September 10, 1969) is an American college basketball coach and currently the head coach of the Georgetown Hoyas men's basketball program. Cooley held the same position at Providence College from 2011 to 2023, and Fairfield University from 2006 to 2011. In 2022, he received national honors as the Naismith College Coach of the Year. Additionally, he received the inaugural 2010 Ben Jobe National Coach of the Year Award. Early years Cooley was born on September 10, 1969, in Providence, Rhode Island, to Jane Cooley and Edward Smith. He was one of nine children by his mother in a family on welfare, living in the low-income South Providence neighborhood. However, he would later be taken in by neighbors Gloria and Eddie Searight, who provided Cooley with meals and a place to sleep. The Hampton Pirates basketball team is the men's basketball team that represents Hampton University in Hampton, Virginia, United States. The Pirates compete in the Coastal Athletic Association. The Oregon Ducks men's basketball team is an college basketball, intercollegiate basketball program that competes in the NCAA Division I and is a member of the Big Ten Conference, representing the University of Oregon.
