2024 Extreme E Championship
The 2024 Extreme E Championship is the fourth season of the Extreme E electric off-road racing series. This will be the last season that the series uses battery-electric powertrains, before the transition to hydrogen fuel cell cars for the 2025 season. Calendar On 21 December 2023, the provisional 2024 season calendar was announced. Saudi Arabia and Sardinia returned from the previous year, the latter as a double-header, with a first trip to the United States replacing Chile as the season finale in America. There was a five-month gap between the season opener in Saudi Arabia and rounds three and four, to take place at an undisclosed location in Europe, later confirmed to be Scotland. On 6 September 2024, a week before the scheduled Island X-Prix, Extreme E announced the cancellation of the remaining rounds in Sardinia and Phoenix, with Alejandro Agag said to be "reviewing alternative solutions" to complete the season. Extreme E
Extreme E is an FIA-sanctioned international off-road racing series that uses spec silhouette electric SUVs to race in remote parts of the world, such as the Saudi Arabian desert or the Arctic. All racing locations are chosen to raise awareness for some aspects of climate change and Extreme E maintains a "Legacy Programme" which intends to provide social and environmental support for those locations. The series also promotes gender equality in motorsport by mandating that all teams consist of a female and a male driver who share equal driving duties. The first season began with the Desert X-Prix in Saudi Arabia in April 2021. Team X44 is the defending champion.
