2024 Vuelta A Andalucía
The 2024 Vuelta a Andalucía Ruta del Sol ''(English: Tour of Andalucia Route of the Sun)'' was a road cycling stage race that was scheduled to take place between 14 and 18 February 2024 in the autonomous community of Andalusia in southern Spain. However, due to farmers protests in the region, the race was shortened to a single 5 kilometer time trial, as the race organizers could not guarantee the safety of the race. The race was rated as a category 2.Pro event on the 2024 UCI ProSeries calendar, and will be the 70th edition of the Vuelta a Andalucía. 2024 UCI ProSeries
The 2024 UCI ProSeries was the fifth season of the UCI ProSeries, the second tier road bicycle racing, road cycling tour, below the UCI World Tour, but above the various regional UCI Continental Circuits. The calendar consisted of 55 events, of which 33 are one-day races (1.Pro), and 22 are stage races (2.Pro). There were 49 events in Europe, five in Asia, and one in the United States. An individual time trial (ITT) is a road bicycle race in which cyclists race alone against the clock (in French: ''contre la montre'' – literally "against the watch", in Italian: ''tappa a cronometro'' "stopwatch stage"). There are also track-based time trials where riders compete in velodromes, and team time trials (TTT). ITTs are also referred to as "the race of truth", as winning depends only on each rider's strength and endurance, and not on help provided by teammates and others riding ahead and creating a slipstream. Vélez-Málaga () is a municipality and the capital of the Axarquía comarca in the province of Málaga, in the Spanish autonomous community of Andalusia. It is the most important city in the comarca.
