2024 Premier Lacrosse League Season
The 2024 Premier Lacrosse League Season was the 6th season of the Premier Lacrosse League (PLL). The regular season began on June 3 and ran through August 17th. The playoffs ran from September 2 through September 15. This is the first season where PLL teams were assigned to home cities. The Atlas went 7-3 and earned the #1 seed on the back of Jeff Teat shattering the single-season points record with 64– the previous record being 44, and breaking the assists record with 28. The Utah Archers were crowned champions on September 15th, beating the Whipsnakes 12-8, securing back-to-back championships for the first time since the Whipsnakes in 2019-2020. Home Cities On May 25, 2023 the PLL announced that the 8 teams will be assigned home cities for the 2024 season. Premier Lacrosse League
The Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) is a professional field lacrosse league in the United States. The league comprises eight teams. Its inaugural season debuted on June 1, 2019, and included a 14-week tour-based schedule taking place in 12 major-market cities. The league was founded by the American professional lacrosse player Paul Rabil and his brother Mike Rabil. Investors include the Chernin Group, the Raine Group and Joseph Tsai. History In September 2018, Bloomberg reported that Paul Rabil would be launching a new professional lacrosse league. Kyle Hartzell
Kyle Hartzell (born September 10, 1985) is an American former professional lacrosse player. He is currently the Head Lacrosse Coach for the University of Texas at Austin, as well as assistant coach and defensive coordinator for the Boston Cannons of the Premier Lacrosse League. He graduated from Salisbury University (D3) in 2007. Hartzell previously played for the Atlas Lacrosse Club of the Premier Lacrosse League. Danny Logan
Danny Logan (born September 30, 1997) is an American professional lacrosse player who plays as a defensive midfielder for Atlas Lacrosse Club of the Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) and as a defenseman for the San Diego Seals of the National Lacrosse League (NLL). Early life and career Logan was born in Columbus, Ohio to Whitney and Karen Logan. He grew up in Upper Arlington, Ohio, where he attended Upper Arlington High School, earning four varsity letters in hockey and lacrosse. In lacrosse, he was a two-time All-American and state champion, and was named Ohio Player of the Year as a senior in 2016. The Yale Bulldogs men's lacrosse team represents Yale University in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I men's lacrosse. Florida Launch
The Florida Launch were a professional men's field lacrosse team based in Boca Raton, Florida. They joined Major League Lacrosse (MLL) as an expansion team for the 2014 season until 2019. The team played its home games at Florida Atlantic University Stadium. The team was owned by Jim Davis, chairman of New Balance, an early investor in the MLL. Franchise history 2014–2016: New beginnings In November 2013, MLL granted an expansion franchise to Palm Beach County, Florida for the 2014 MLL Season. Hamilton Nationals
The Hamilton Nationals were a Major League Lacrosse (MLL) professional men's field lacrosse team based in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. They began play in the 2009 season in Toronto, Ontario as the Toronto Nationals, becoming the first-ever Canadian MLL team. In 2009, they played their home games at BMO Field, which is also home to Major League Soccer's Toronto FC but moved to the smaller Lamport Stadium for the 2010 season. Schmeisser Award
The William C. Schmeisser Award is an award given annually to the NCAA's most outstanding defenseman in men's college lacrosse. The award is presented by the USILA and is named after William C. "Father Bill" Schmeisser, a player and coach for Johns Hopkins University in the early 1900s. Schmeisser played defense at Hopkins from 1900 to 1902. He was head coach of the Blue Jays from 1907 to 1911 and continued to serve as an advisory coach to the team thereafter, accompanying the team to the 1928 Olympics in Amsterdam. He was a charter founder of the Mt. Washington Lacrosse Club and was inducted into the U.S. Lacrosse Hall of Fame in 1957. Tucker Durkin
Tucker Durkin (born September 5, 1990 in Huntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania) is an American retired professional lacrosse player. Durkin played lacrosse collegiately at Johns Hopkins University. There he won the division 1 defenseman of the year award twice consecutively in 2012 and 2013. He was inducted into the Johns Hopkins Athletic Hall of Fame in 2024. He was drafted third overall to the Hamilton Nationals, who later became the Florida Launch in Major League Lacrosse. 2018 World Lacrosse Championship
The 2018 World Lacrosse Championship () was the 13th edition of the international men's field lacrosse tournament for national teams organized by the Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL). As many as 50 countries were expected to compete in the tournament; with the official total coming in at 46, which made the 2018 WLC the largest of all-time.
