The 2024 Pennsylvania Auditor General election was held on November 5, 2024, to elect the Pennsylvania auditor general. Timothy DeFoor
Timothy Lionel DeFoor (born 1961 or 1962) is an American politician who is serving as the 50th Pennsylvania auditor general. A member of the Republican Party, he previously served as the Controller of Dauphin County, Pennsylvania from 2016 to 2021. DeFoor's victory in the 2020 Pennsylvania Auditor General election made him the first African American and person of color to win an election to a statewide executive office in Pennsylvania, and the second to hold statewide office following Tim Reese. Upon taking office as auditor general, DeFoor also became the first Republican to hold that office since Barbara Hafer, who left office in 1997. Dwight Evans (born May 16, 1954) is an American politician serving as a U.S. representative from Pennsylvania since 2016. A member of the Democratic Party, he previously served in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, representing the 203rd district for over thirty-five years. Evans defeated incumbent Chaka Fattah in the Democratic primary election for Pennsylvania's 2nd congressional district, and won a special election on November 8, 2016, following Fattah's resignation from Congress after he faced corruption charges. Edward C. Gainey (born February 19, 1970) is an American politician who is the 61st mayor of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Previously, he served as a member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives from the 24th district. The Pennsylvania State Senate is the upper house of the Pennsylvania General Assembly, the Pennsylvania state legislature. The State Senate meets in the State Capitol building in Harrisburg. Senators are elected for four-year terms, staggered every two years, such that half of the seats are contested at each election. Even- and odd-numbered district seats are contested in separate election years.
