2024 Pecos League Season
The 2024 Pecos League season was the 14th season of professional baseball in the Pecos League, an independent baseball league which operates in cities in desert mountain regions throughout California, New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas, since its creation in August 2010. There are 16 Pecos League teams, split between the Mountain and Pacific divisions. The San Rafael Pacifics entered the season as the defending champions, having defeated the Tucson Saguaros, two games to one, in the league's 2023 championship series. Andrew Dunn returned as commissioner for the 2024 season. The season concluded with the Alpine Cowboys defeating the San Rafael Pacifics two games to zero to capture their third title in franchise history. Pecos League
The Pecos League of Professional Baseball Clubs is an independent professional baseball league headquartered in Houston, which operates in cities in desert mountain regions throughout California, New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, Kansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, and Texas. The league plays in cities that do not have Major League Baseball or Minor League Baseball teams and is not affiliated with either. The Pecos League season is a highly condensed one. Schedules vary, but teams have played as many as 70 games in 72 days, or 80 games in three months. History The Pecos League operated six teams in the 2011 and 2012 seasons and expanded to eight teams for 2013. Continued growth saw the league reach a high of 10 teams for 2014. North Platte 80s
The North Platte 80s are a professional baseball team based in North Platte, Nebraska, that began play in 2024. They are a member of the Mountain North Division of the Pecos League, an independent baseball league which is not affiliated with Major League Baseball or Minor League Baseball. They play their home games at Bill Wood Field. History The city of North Platte, Nebraska, was previously home to the North Platte Buffalos from 1928 to 1932 and the North Platte Indians from 1956 to 1959, both of which played in the Nebraska State League. It also hosted three teams in the semi-pro Nebraska Independent League: an unnamed club from 1936 to 1937 followed by two iterations of the North Platte Plainsmen (originally the Flynns) from 1946 to 1955 and from 1961 to 1964. Games Played
Games played (GP) is a statistic used in team sports to indicate the total number of games in which a player has participated (in any capacity); the statistic is generally applied irrespective of whatever portion of the game is contested. The Garden City Wind are a professional baseball team based in Garden City, Kansas, in southwest Kansas. The Wind are a franchise of the Pecos League, which is not affiliated with a Major League Baseball organization. The Blackwell FlyCatchers are a professional baseball team based in Blackwell, Oklahoma. They are a member of the Mountain North Division of the Pecos League, an independent baseball league which is not affiliated with Major League Baseball or Minor League Baseball.
