2024 Ondo State Gubernatorial Election
The 2024 Ondo State gubernatorial election will take place on 16 November 2024. Incumbent APC governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa is running for election to a full term. Former deputy governor Agboola Ajayi of the PDP and 15 other party candidates are running against him. Lucky Aiyedatiwa of the APC was the former deputy governor who became governor after the death of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu in December 2023. Agboola Ajayi of the PDP was the ZLP gubernatorial candidate in the 2020 gubernatorial election. Lucky Aiyedatiwa
Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa (born 12 January 1965) is a Nigerian businessman and politician who has served as deputy governor of Ondo State since 2021 succeeding Agboola Ajayi. He is a former commissioner of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC). Early life Aiyedatiwa was born on 12 January 1965, he hails from Obe-Nla, an oil-bearing community in Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State. Olayide Owolabi Adelami (born 3 April 1958) is a Nigerian politician who has served as the Deputy Governor of Ondo State, deputy governor of Ondo State since 1 February 2024. Agboola Ajayi
Alfred Agboola Ajayi (born 24 September 1968) is a Nigerian politician, lawyer, and businessman. He is a former Deputy Governor of Ondo State and was elected into office on 26 November 2016 as running mate to Governor Rotimi Akeredolu ( SAN) under the All Progressive Congress (APC). He was succeeded by Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa following the victory of Governor Akeredolu in the 2020 Ondo State gubernatorial election. All Progressives Congress
The All Progressives Congress (APC) is one of the two major contemporary political parties in Nigeria, along with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu (born 21 July 1956) is a Nigerian lawyer and politician who is currently the Governor of Ondo State, in office since 24 February 2017. His adopted prefix is "Arakunrin", while his nickname is "Aketi". He is a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) who became president of the Nigerian Bar Association in 2008. 2020 Ondo State Gubernatorial Election
The 2020 Ondo State gubernatorial election occurred on October 10, 2020. Incumbent APC governor Rotimi Akeredolu won re-election for a second term, defeating PDP Eyitayo Jegede, ZLP Agboola Ajayi and several minor party candidates. Rotimi Akeredolu was the APC candidate. He picked Lucky Ayedatiwa as his running mate. Eyitayo Jegede was the PDP candidate with Gboluga Ikengboju as his running mate.
