The 2024 Northern Ireland Open (officially the 2024 BetVictor Northern Ireland Open) was a professional snooker tournament that took place from 20 to 27 October 2024 at the Waterfront Hall in Belfast, Northern Ireland. It was the seventh Snooker world rankings, ranking event of the 2024–25 snooker season, 202425 season (following the 2024 Wuhan Open (snooker), 2024 Wuhan Open and preceding the 2024 International Championship), the second of four tournaments in the season's Home Nations Series (following the 2024 English Open (snooker), 2024 English Open and preceding the 2024 Scottish Open (snooker), 2024 Scottish Open and the 2025 Welsh Open (snooker), 2025 Welsh Open). BetVictor, founded in 1946, is an online gambling company based in Gibraltar, owned by British businessman and racehorse owner Michael Tabor. It provides services such as sports betting and online casinos. The Home Nations Series, also known as the BetVictor Home Nations Series for sponsorship reasons, is a snooker tournament series in the four home nations of the United Kingdom. It began in the 2016–17 snooker season, combining two existing tournaments, the Scottish Open and Welsh Open, with two newly created tournaments, the English Open and Northern Ireland Open. Ponds Forge International Sports Centre is a leisure complex in Sheffield, England. It has an Olympic-sized swimming pool with 2,600 seating capacity, a family and children's pools (50 m Competition pool and 25 metre diving pit), water slides amongst other facilities. A century break requires potting at least 25 consecutive balls, and the ability to score centuries is regarded as a mark of the highest skill in snooker. Chris Wakelin (born 16 March 1992) is an English professional snooker player from Rugby, Warwickshire. He turned professional in 2013 and won his first ranking title at the 2023 Snooker Shoot Out. Career Early career Wakelin started playing snooker aged 8, when his parents Mark and Angie bought him his first mini snooker table, and by the time he was 11 he was successfully playing in the local league. However, his career nearly came to a halt at the age of 17 when he had to start working full-time as an ASDA delivery driver to support himself financially, and only played snooker as a hobby. The 2024 Champion of Champions (officially the 2024 Grosvenor Casinos Champion of Champions) was a professional snooker tournament that took place between 11 and 17 November 2024 at the Toughsheet Community Stadium in Bolton, England. It was the 14th edition of the Champion of Champions since the tournament was first staged in 1978. It featured 16 participants, primarily winners of significant tournaments since the previous year's event. As an invitational tournament, it carried no world ranking points. It followed the 2024 International Championship and preceded the 2024 UK Championship. The winner received £150,000 from a total prize fund of £440,000.
