The 2024 Montana Attorney General election was held on November 5, 2024, to elect the Montana Attorney General, attorney general of the U.S. state, state of Montana. Austin Knudsen
Austin Miles Knudsen (born 1980 or 1981) is an American lawyer and politician serving as the Attorney General of Montana. He formerly served as the Speaker of the Montana House of Representatives from 2015 to 2019. During his time in the Montana House from 2010 to 2018, he represented House District 36, which includes the Culbertson area. Early life and education Knudsen was raised in Culbertson, Montana. He earned a Bachelor of Science in sociology and Bachelor of Arts in political science from Montana State University. He then earned a Juris Doctor from the Alexander Blewett III School of Law at the University of Montana. Larry Joseph Sabato (; born August 7, 1952) is an American political scientist and political analyst. He is the Robert Kent Gooch Professor of Politics at the University of Virginia, where he is also the founder and director of the Center for Politics, which works to promote civic engagement and participation. Troy Bryan Downing (born March 4, 1967) is an American politician and businessman serving as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives for since 2025. A member of the Republican Party, he previously held the office of Montana state auditor from 2021 to 2025. Downing ran for the United States Senate in 2018, but placed third in the Republican primary, behind then-state auditor Matt Rosendale and Yellowstone County District Judge Russell Fagg. Matthew Martin Rosendale Sr. (born July 7, 1960) is an American politician and former real estate developer who represented Montana in the United States House of Representatives from 2021 to 2025.
