2024 Missouri Secretary Of State Election
The 2024 Missouri Secretary of State election will be held on November 5, 2024, to elect the secretary of state of the state of Missouri. It will coincide with the concurrent presidential election, as well as various state and local elections, including for U.S. Senate, U.S. House, and governor of Missouri. John Robert "Jay" Ashcroft (born July 12, 1973) is an American attorney, engineer and politician serving as the 40th and current List of Missouri secretaries of state, Secretary of State of Missouri since 2017. A member of the Republican Party (United States), Republican Party, he is the son of former U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft. As Missouri Secretary of State, Ashcroft pushed for stricter Voter identification laws in the United States, voter identification laws, meant to prevent voter fraud and supported an investigation into Missouri Attorney General Josh Hawley. Shane Schoeller (born August 21, 1971), is an American politician, currently serving as the Greene County Clerk. He is a former Republican member of the Missouri House of Representatives. Schoeller represented the 139th district, encompassing North Springfield and the communities of Walnut Grove, Fair Grove, and Willard in the northern half of Greene County. Barbara Phifer is a former United Methodist pastor who started her term as a Democratic member of the Missouri House of Representatives, representing the state's 90th House district, in January 2021.
