2024 IMSA Ford Mustang Challenge
The 2024 IMSA Ford Mustang Challenge is the inaugural season of the IMSA Ford Mustang Challenge. It began on June 7 at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course and will end on October 6 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Robert Noaker Racing's Robert Noaker scored the series' inaugural victory during the opening round at Mid-Ohio. Calendar An initial calendar was released in August 2023, featuring five race weekends totaling ten race events. The preliminary schedule initially featured a round at Charlotte Motor Speedway with an undisclosed date. Ultimately, this round was dropped from the final schedule in favor of the Indianapolis 8 Hour support race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. IMSA Ford Mustang Challenge
The IMSA Ford Mustang Challenge is a one-make sports car racing series held in the United States that features Ford Mustang Dark Horse R race cars. The series is sanctioned by the International Motor Sports Association. History The unveiling of the seventh-generation Ford Mustang brought with it a slew of special editions and motorsport activations, including the introduction of the Dark Horse R track edition in July 2023. The car resembles the track day-focused Dark Horse S, but features unique wheels and a racing fuel cell on top of the FIA roll cage, tow hooks, upgraded brakes, rear wing, and re-designed exhaust system featured on the Dark Horse S. The Dark Horse R additionally features a six-speed manual gearbox and an anti-lock braking system, with a base price of approximately $150,000. The International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) is a North American sports car racing sanctioning body based in Daytona Beach, Florida, under the jurisdiction of the Automobile Competition Committee for the United States, ACCUS arm of the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile, FIA. Brandon R. Gdovic (born February 28, 1992) is an American professional racing driver. The Yorktown, Virginia resident competes in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America series, driving for Precision Performance Motorsports. He has also raced in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, ARCA Racing Series, NASCAR K&N Pro Series East, NASCAR Whelen Euro Series, and WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. Precision Performance Motorsports (PPM) is an American professional sports car racing and former stock car racing team that currently competes full-time in the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship using a GT Daytona-class Lamborghini Huracán, Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo. Stevan Gordon McAleer (born 28 August 1984) is a British racing driver who competes in the IMSA SportsCar Championship, GT World Challenge Europe, and Michelin Pilot Challenge. Career Early career McAleer was introduced to motorsports at the age of 10, visiting a karting track in his hometown of Glasgow with friends. At age 11, he was gifted a go-kart by his father, before beginning to race karts competitively the following year. However, a move to car racing was postponed due to a lack of funding. After winning the Scottish Karting Championship four times, he moved to the United States in 2005 to pursue additional racing opportunities.
