The 2024 FIFA Intercontinental Cup final, also known simply as the 2024 FIFA Intercontinental Cup, was the final match of the 2024 FIFA Intercontinental Cup, an international club association football, football tournament. It was the first final of the FIFA Intercontinental Cup, a FIFA-organised tournament between the club champions from each of the six continental confederations. The match took place at Lusail Stadium in Lusail, Qatar, on 18 December 2024 between Spanish club Real Madrid CF, Real Madrid, the winners of the 2023–24 UEFA Champions League, and Mexican club C.F. 2024 FIFA Intercontinental Cup
The 2024 FIFA Intercontinental Cup (officially known as the FIFA Intercontinental Cup Qatar 2024 presented by Saudi Aramco, Aramco for sponsorship reasons) was the inaugural edition of the FIFA Intercontinental Cup, an annual club association football tournament organised by FIFA. The tournament comprised the six teams that won the previous edition of the continental championships in each FIFA confederation, playing each other in a single-elimination bracket. It was held from 22 September to 18 December 2024. The first two games were played in the stadium of a team involved in each match, and the final three (including the 2024 FIFA Intercontinental Cup final, final) were played in Qatar as a neutral venue. 1966 Intercontinental Cup
The 1966 Intercontinental Cup was the two-legged tie to define the champion of the Intercontinental Cup. It was contested by Uruguayan club Peñarol and Spanish Real Madrid, which met again after their first encounter in 1960. In the first match, held in Estadio Centenario, Peñarol beat Real Madrid 2–0.
