2024 Eliteserien
The 2024 Eliteserien was the 80th season of top-tier football in Norway. This was the eighth season of Eliteserien after rebranding from Tippeligaen. The season started on 31 March 2024 and ended on 1 December 2024, not including play-off matches. Bodø/Glimt are the defending champions. Fredrikstad, KFUM and Kristiansund joined as the promoted clubs from the 2023 Norwegian First Division. They replaced Vålerenga, Stabæk and Aalesund, who were relegated to the 2024 Norwegian First Division. Teams Sixteen teams compete in the league – the top thirteen teams from the previous season and three teams promoted from the First Division. The promoted teams were Fredrikstad, KFUM and Kristiansund. Kristiansund and Fredrikstad were promoted after respectively 1 and 11 seasons absent, while KFUM were promoted for the first time in their history. The video assistant referee (VAR) is a Assistant referee (association football), match official in association football who assists the referee by reviewing decisions using video footage and providing advice to the referee based on those reviews. The assistant video assistant referee (AVAR) is a match official appointed to assist the VAR in the video operation room and around the pitch. There are three AVARs (AVAR1, AVAR2, and AVAR3) who are assigned to different parts of the game that they are charged with reviewing and are in consistent communication with the VAR about possible situations that might warrant further review. Sandefjord Fotball, often referred to simply as Sandefjord, is a Norwegian professional football club founded on September 10, 1998. Fotballklubben Haugesund (), usually referred to as FK Haugesund or FKH, is a professional association football, football club from the city of Haugesund that plays in the top tier of the Norwegian football league system. The 2024 Norwegian First Division (referred to as OBOS-ligaen for sponsorship reasons) was a Norwegian second-tier football league season. The season started on 1 April 2024 and ended on 9 November 2024, not including play-off matches. 2024 marked Lyn's return to the second tier following an absence since 2010, coinciding with Vålerenga being relegated from the first tier. The Oslo Derby between the two at Ullevaal stadion in April notably broke the attendance record for the First Division. Aalesunds Fotballklubb, commonly known as Aalesund or AaFK, is a Norwegian professional association football, football club from the town of Ålesund (town), Ålesund, that competes in the Norwegian first division, the second tier of the Norwegian football league system. Kristiansund BK is a Norwegian football club located in Kristiansund that currently plays in Eliteserien. The team plays its home matches in the 4,444-capacity Kristiansund Stadion. Eliteserien () is a professional association football league in Norway and the highest level of the Norwegian football league system.
