Background Constituency The federal riding of Durham covers most of the southeastern part of the Regional Municipality of Durham, on the eastern edge of the Greater Toronto Area. Durham (formerly known as Clarington—Scugog—Uxbridge) was a federal Electoral district (Canada), electoral district in Ontario, Canada, that was represented in the House of Commons of Canada from 1904 to 1968 and from 1988 to 2025. Its first iteration was created in 1903 from Durham East (federal electoral district), Durham East and Durham West riding (division), ridings. It consisted of the county of Durham. The electoral district was abolished in 1966 when it was merged into the Northumberland—Durham riding.
