2024 Cork Senior A Hurling Championship
The 2024 Cork Senior A Hurling Championship was the fifth staging of the Cork Senior A Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Cork County Board in 2020. The draw for the group stage placings took place on 14 December 2023. The championship ran from 2 August to 20 October 2024. The final was played on 20 October 2024 at SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh in Cork, between Glen Rovers and Blarney, in what was their first ever meeting in the final. Glen Rovers won the match by 3–17 to 1–13 to claim their first ever championship title in the grade. Alan Fenton was the championship's top scorer with 2-46. Carrigtwohill GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club in Carrigtwohill, County Cork, Republic of Ireland, Ireland. The club is affiliated to the Imokilly GAA, East Cork Board and fields teams in both hurling and Gaelic football. Brian Roche (hurler)
Brian Roche (born 2000) is an Irish hurler. At club level, he plays with Bride Rovers and at inter-county level with the Cork senior hurling team. Career Roche played hurling at all levels as a student at St Colman's College in Fermoy. After winning the Cork PPS U16AHC title in 2016, he co-captained the college, alongside his twin brother Eoin, to the Dean Ryan Cup title in 2017, after a 2-12 to 1-13 win over Thurles CBS in the final. Roche also lined out for St Colman's in the Dr Harty Cup. After finishing his secondary schooling, Roche later lined out with MTU Cork in the Fitzgibbon Cup. At club level, he began his career at underage levels with Bride Rovers and won Cork Premier 2 MHC and Cork U21AHC medals in 2018. Roche also won an East Cork JAFC medal in 2021. Brian Murphy (hurler, Born 1982)
Brian Murphy (born 21 July 1982) is an Irish hurler who plays as a full-back for the Cork senior team. Born in Rathcormac, County Cork, Murphy first played competitive hurling whilst at school in St. Colman's College. He arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of seventeen when he first linked up with the Cork minor team, before later lining out with the under-21 and intermediate sides. He made his senior debut in the 2003 National Hurling League. Murphy went on to play a key part for Cork during a successful period for the team, and has won two All-Ireland medals and two Munster medals. Murphy was an All-Ireland runner-up on two occasions. At club level Murphy has won a set of Munster and championship medals with Bride Rovers in the intermediate grade. Bride Rovers GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club shared by the neighbouring villages of Rathcormac and Bartlemy in County Cork, Ireland. Ballyhea or Ballyhay () is a townland and civil parish in north County Cork, Ireland. Located near to the County Limerick border, the village of Ballyhea lies on the main N20 Cork–Limerick road, 3.5 km south of Charleville. It lies approximately 110 m above sea level. Ballyhea GAA is a hurling club in the village of Ballyhea in Cork, Ireland. The club is affiliated to the Avondhu, division of Cork GAA. As of 2015, the club was competing in the Cork Senior Hurling Championship. It did not field Gaelic football teams for a number of years, however, as of 2023 they compete in the Avondhu Junior football championship structure. Newcestown GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club in Newcestown, County Cork, Ireland. The club is affiliated to the West Cork Board and fields teams in both hurling and Gaelic football. History Located in the village of Newcestown, about 8 miles from Bandon, Newcestown GAA Club was founded on 17 December 1958 and played its first game, against Kilmeen, in the spring of 1959.
