2024 Budapest Formula 2 Round
The 2024 Budapest Formula 2 round was a motor racing event held between 19 and 21 July 2024 at the Hungaroring, Mogyoród, Hungary. It was the ninth round of the 2024 Formula 2 Championship and was held in support of the 2024 Hungarian Grand Prix. Classification Qualifying Qualifying was held on 19 July 2024, at 16:00 local time (UTC+2). Sprint Race The Sprint race was held on 20 July 2024, at 14:15 local time (UTC+2). Notes: * – Zane Maloney was supposed to start from third position, but stalled on the grid on the formation lap. He then was required to start from the pit lane, with his grid slot being left vacant in the process. * – Amaury Cordeel was given a 10 second time penalty for leaving the track and gaining an advantage. * – Richard Verschoor finished first on the road, but was later disqualified as the plank on the floor of his car was thinner than permitted by the regulations. Hungaroring
The Hungaroring is a motorsport racetrack in Mogyoród, Pest County, Hungary where the Formula One Hungarian Grand Prix is held. In 1986, it became the location of the first Formula One Grand Prix behind the Iron Curtain. Bernie Ecclestone wanted a race in the USSR, but a Hungarian friend recommended Budapest. They wanted a street circuit similar to the Circuit de Monaco to be built in the Népliget – Budapest's largest park – but the government decided to build a new circuit just outside the city near a major highway. Construction works started on 1 October 1985. It was built in eight months, less time than any other Formula One circuit. The first race was held on 24 March 1986, in memory of János Drapál, the first Hungarian who won motorcycle Grand Prix races. 2024 Formula 2 Championship
The 2024 FIA Formula 2 Championship is a planned motor racing championship for Formula Two, Formula 2 cars that is sanctioned by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA). The championship will be the fifty-eighth season of Formula 2 racing and the eighth season run under the FIA Formula 2 Championship moniker. It is an open-wheel racing category that serves as the second tier of formula racing in the FIA Global Pathway. The category will be run in support of selected rounds of the 2024 Formula One World Championship. As the championship is a spec series, all teams and drivers that compete in the championship will run the same car. 2024 will see the debut of a new chassis and engine package. Oliver Bearman (born 8 May 2005) is a British racing driver. He was the 2021 Italian and ADAC Formula 4 champion and is a member of the Ferrari Driver Academy. Amaury Cordeel (; born 9 July 2002) is a Belgian racing driver set to compete in the 2023 FIA Formula 2 Championship with Virtuosi Racing. Franco Alejandro Colapinto (born 27 May 2003) is an Argentine-Italian racing driver who is due to compete in FIA Formula 3 for MP Motorsport.
