A federation (also called a federal state) is an entity characterized by a political union, union of partially federated state, self-governing provinces, states, or other regions under a #Federal governments, federal government (federalism). The 2023 Nigerian presidential election was held on 25 February 2023 to elect the President of Nigeria, president and Vice President of Nigeria, vice president of Nigeria. 2023 Djiboutian Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections were held in Djibouti on 24 February 2023 to elect the 65 members of the National Assembly. Background Since his election as President in 1999 Ismaïl Omar Guelleh has ruled Djibouti with almost unchecked power and has become increasingly authoritarian. In all of his presidential re-election campaigns he has never gotten below 80 percent of the vote, which the opposition have decried as fraudulent. National-level elections in Djibouti are held for the President and the unicameral National Assembly (''Assemblée Nationale''). Djibouti is a one party dominant state with the People's Rally for Progress (RPP) in power. Opposition parties are allowed since the 1992 referendum, but have been represented in parliament only since the 2013 elections. Freedom House considers the recent elections in Djibouti to be "not free". Djibouti also uses the Red Sea as a bases for all of its economic and political decisions for current day and in the future. 2023 Monegasque General Election
General elections were held in Monaco on 5 February 2023. The result was a landslide victory for the governing Monegasque National Union led by Brigitte Boccone-Pagès, which won all 24 seats on the National Council. The new council was sworn in on 16 February. Monaco elects on the national level a legislature (parliament). The National Council (''Conseil National'') has 24 members, elected for a five-year term, 16 elected by a winner-take-all plurality system, and the other 8 by proportional representation. Each voter may cast a ballot with up to 16 candidates' names. First, the 16 individuals with the most votes are elected. Then, votes are counted by party groups to fill the remaining 8 seats. E.g., if a party polled 51% of the votes it would probably win 20 out of 24 seats (all 16 of the winner-take-all seats and then 4 of the 8 proportional seats). 2023 Ecuadorian Constitutional Referendum
A constitutional referendum was held in Ecuador on 5 February 2023, alongside local elections. The binding consultation was called on 29 November 2022 by President Guillermo Lasso. Voters were asked to approve or reject a total of eight questions surrounding changes to the Constitution of Ecuador.
