2023 Women's Junior Pan American Championship
The 2023 Women's Junior Pan American Championship was the 13th edition of the Women's Pan American Junior Championship, the biennial women's international under-21 field hockey championship of the Americas organized by the Pan American Hockey Federation. It was scheduled to be held from 10 to 18 April 2023 in Bridgetown, Barbados. The tournament served as a direct qualifier for the 2023 Women's FIH Hockey Junior World Cup, 2023 Junior World Cup, held in Santiago, Chile in December 2023, with the three best teams alongside the Junior World Cup hosts Chile qualifying. The United States women's national under-21 field hockey team, United States won their second title by defeating Argentina women's national under-21 field hockey team, Argentina 4–1 in a Penalty shoot-out (field hockey), shoot-out after the match finished 1–1. The Canada women's national under-21 field hockey team represents Canada in international under-21 field hockey competitions. The team is controlled by the governing body for field hockey in Canada, Field Hockey Canada, which is a member of the Pan American Hockey Federation (PAHF) and the International Hockey Federation (FIH). The team's first recorded appearance was at the 1989 FIH World Cup, where the team finished in seventh place. The team's last appearance was in 2021, during the Pan American Junior Championship in Santiago, where the team claimed an historic gold medal. Dominga is a copper and iron ore prospect and mine project in northern Chile. The ores of Dominga are emplaced in volcanic and plutonic rocks of the Punta del Cobre Formation and the "Dioritic Complex" respectively. The Dominga mine project has been controversial because of an alleged conflict of interest involving former president Sebastián Piñera and Carlos Alberto Délano a local magnate and friend of Piñera. Lara Casas (born 22 June 2004) is a field hockey player from Argentina. Career Under–21 Lara Casas made her international debut at under-21 level, making her first appearance in 2023. She debuted for the Argentine U–21 team at the 2023 Pan American Junior Championship in Saint Michael, winning a silver medal. Later in the year, Casas was called into the junior national squad again for the FIH Junior World Cup in Santiago, winning another silver medal.
