2023 Teignbridge District Council Election
The 2023 Teignbridge District Council election took place on 4 May 2023 to elect members of Teignbridge District Council in Devon, England. This would be on the same day as other local elections across England. The Liberal Democrats won a majority on the council, which had been under no overall control prior to the election. Overview The council was under no overall control prior to the election, being led by Alan Connett of the Liberal Democrats. He chose not to stand for re-election. The Liberal Democrats won 26 of the 47 seats on the council, giving them a majority. The Liberal Democrats chose Martin Wrigley as their new leader, and he was formally appointed as the new leader of the council at the subsequent annual council meeting on 23 May 2023. Teignbridge District Council
Teignbridge is a local government district in Devon, England. Its council is based in the town of Newton Abbot. The district also includes the towns of Ashburton, Buckfastleigh, Dawlish, Kingsteignton and Teignmouth, along with numerous villages and surrounding rural areas. Teignbridge contains part of the south Devon coastline, including the Dawlish Warren National Nature Reserve. Some of the inland western parts of the district lie within the Dartmoor National Park. David Knopfler
David Knopfler (born 27 December 1952) is a British musician. Together with his older brother Mark Knopfler, John Illsley, and Pick Withers, he founded the rock band Dire Straits in 1977, serving as rhythm guitarist on their first two albums.
