The 2023 Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council election took place on 4 May 2023 to elect members of the Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council in West Midlands, England. This was on the same day as other local elections. There were 17 of the council's 51 seats up for election, being the usual third of the council. The Conservatives retained their majority on the council. Solihull went against the national trend in this election; in most councils the Conservatives lost seats, whereas in Solihull they gained two extra seats. Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council, also known as Solihull Council, is the local authority for the Metropolitan Borough of Solihull in the West Midlands, England. It is a metropolitan borough council and provides the majority of local government services in the borough. The council has been a member of the West Midlands Combined Authority since 2016. The council has been under Conservative majority control since 2011. It is based at the Council House on Manor Square in Solihull. Rosi Sexton
Rosemary Ann Sexton (born 16 July 1977) is a British politician, mathematician, sports therapist, osteopath, and former mixed martial artist. Sexton obtained a degree in mathematics from the University of Cambridge in 1998, before later obtaining a Master of Science in mathematical logic in 2000 from the University of Manchester and eventually a PhD in theoretical computer science. She began her professional mixed martial arts (MMA) career in 2002, becoming the first Cage Warriors Women's 132 lbs Champion in 2005 in addition to becoming the first British woman to fight in the Ultimate Fighting Championships (UFC) in 2013. Solihull ( ) is a market town and the administrative centre of the Metropolitan Borough of Solihull, in the West Midlands, England. Solihull is situated on the River Blythe in the Forest of Arden area. The town had a population of 126,577 at the 2021 Census, and its wider borough had a population of 216,240. The town is located 7.5 miles (12 km) southeast of Birmingham and 14 miles (21 km) west of Coventry.
