2023 Premier Lacrosse League Season
The 2023 Premier Lacrosse League Season was the fifth season of the Premier Lacrosse League (PLL). It was held from June 3 through September 24. This season marked the first time that the PLL held an event in the state of Kentucky with the All-Star Events being held in Louisville, Kentucky, Louisville. This was also the first season a free agency period occurred. This season the PLL unveiled new uniforms for each team. These uniforms were developed in partnership with Champion (sportswear), Champion. The Waterdogs Lacrosse Club, Waterdogs were given a third black jersey as part of being the reigning champions. Archers Lacrosse Club would beat the reigning champion Waterdogs 15–14 in the PLL Championship game. Premier Lacrosse League
The Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) is a professional field lacrosse league in the United States. The league comprises eight teams. Its inaugural season debuted on June 1, 2019, and included a 14-week tour-based schedule taking place in 12 major-market cities. The league was founded by the American professional lacrosse player Paul Rabil and his brother Mike Rabil. Investors include the Chernin Group, the Raine Group and Joseph Tsai. History In September 2018, Bloomberg reported that Paul Rabil would be launching a new professional lacrosse league. Chrome Lacrosse Club
The Denver Outlaws are a professional field lacrosse team based in Denver, Colorado, that competes in the Premier Lacrosse League (PLL). Founded as the Chrome Lacrosse Club, they began play as one of the league's six inaugural teams in the 2019 season alongside Archers, Atlas, Chaos, Redwoods, and Whipsnakes. The team competes as a member of the league's Western Conference. Following the assignment of home markets for the 2024 season on November 14, 2023 , they were rebranded with the identity of the former Denver Outlaws of Major League Lacrosse. Sam Handley
Sam Handley is an American lacrosse player for the California Redwoods of the Premier Lacrosse League. He played college lacrosse at Penn, where he was a three-time All-American and won the McLaughlin Award as the best midfielder in the country. Early life A native of Portland, Oregon, Handley was the oldest of three children born to Lisa and JB Handley. He began playing lacrosse at the suggestion of his grandfather, who had played college lacrosse at Dartmouth. Handley looked up to Peter Baum, a fellow Portland native who won the 2012 Tewaaraton Award, later stating that "as kids playing lacrosse in Oregon, we all wanted to be like him". The Maryland Terrapins men's lacrosse team represents the University of Maryland, College Park, University of Maryland in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I (NCAA), Division I college lacrosse, lacrosse as a member of the Big Ten Conference. Maryland was a founding member of the Atlantic Coast Conference before withdrawing after the 2014 season. Delaware Fightin' Blue Hens Men's Lacrosse
The Delaware Fightin' Blue Hens men's lacrosse team represents the University of Delaware in NCAA Division I men's college lacrosse. Delaware currently competes as a member of the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) and plays its home games at Delaware Stadium in Newark, Delaware. History Head coach Bob Shillinglaw led the Blue Hens for over 30 years and is only the second man to coach 500 lacrosse games. Premier Lacrosse League Championship Series
The PLL Championship Series is an annual winter lacrosse tournament in the lacrosse sixes format. It is hosted by the Premier Lacrosse League. It features the top four teams in the regular season standings of the previous Premier Lacrosse League season. The inaugural championship series occurred in 2023. Announced in May 2022, the Championship Series was created for a variety of reasons: incentivize a teams regular season finishing position(as of 2023 only the last place team in the standings does not qualify for playoffs in the PLL), provide more playing opportunities for PLL players that do not play in the NLL, aid in the broader push for lacrosse's inclusion in the Olympics, and to create more inventory for the PLL's broadcasting partners.
