2023 National Premier Soccer League Season
The 2023 National Premier Soccer League season is the 21st season of the National Premier Soccer League and part of the 111th season of FIFA-sanctioned soccer in the United States. It is also the league's 20th anniversary of its founding in 2003. The regular season began on March 25 and ended on July 9. In total, 94 teams participated in this season. Format changes The Pacific Conference split back into the Northwest and Southwest Conferences for the 2023 season. The Heartland Conference moved from the South Region to the Midwest, being joined by the newly created Gateway Conference. The Southeast Conference returned to the South Region after being moved the East in 2020. Finally, the Keystone Conference was split into East and West in the East Region. National Premier Soccer League
The National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) is an American men's soccer league. The NPSL is a semi-professional league, comprising some teams that have paid players and some that are entirely amateur. The league is officially affiliated to the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA) and has automatic qualification for the U.S. Open Cup. It is the successor of the Men's Premier Soccer League, a regional league originally based in the Western United States, which has now expanded nationwide to encompass teams from 29 states. The league's motto is "A National League with a Regional Focus". Competition format The National Premier Soccer League is divided into four separate regions (Northeast, South, Midwest, and West). Each region is divided into conferences with a varying number of teams per conference. West Texas FC
West Texas FC is an American soccer team based in Midland, Texas, United States. Founded in 2008, the team plays in the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL), the fourth tier of the American Soccer Pyramid, in the Lone Star Conference of the South Region. The team has played its home games at the Grande Communications Stadium since 2009. The team's colors are white and navy blue. Since 2022, the team has been owned by real estate investors Jason and Melina Cannon. They have won three titles. Virginia Dream FC is an American soccer club. It currently competes in the Mid-Atlantic Conference of the National Premier Soccer League, considered the fourth tier of the United States soccer league system. The team's home field is Meridian High School Stadium in Falls Church, Virginia. History Virginia Dream FC was founded by 2016 Gatorade National Boys Soccer Player of the Year and former professional player Lucas Mendes in 2022. The team joined the National Premier Soccer League later the same year with plans to debut in the 2023 season. The team's first match was a 2–2 draw on the road against fellow expansion side Greenville United FC on May 6, 2023. The Philadelphia Union are an American professional soccer club based in Chester, Pennsylvania. The Union compete in Major League Soccer (MLS) as a member of the Eastern Conference. Founded on February 28, 2008, the club began playing in 2010 as an expansion team. The club's home stadium is Subaru Park, a soccer-specific stadium located in Chester, Pennsylvania on the banks of the Delaware River. The Union are currently owned by Keystone Sports & Entertainment, with Jay Sugarman serving as majority owner and chairman of the club. Iowa Raptors FC
Iowa Raptors FC are a soccer club based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, United States. They were established in 2019 as a men's team, and formed their women's team in 2021. Their men's team compete in the Midwest Division of United Premier Soccer League and in the Midwest Premier League. They began play in the 2021 UPSL season playing at Prairie High School's stadium. They had initially been set to join USL League Two for 2021, before switching to the UPSL. The men's team won the 2020 Heartland Super Cup. Des Moines United FC is an American soccer club in Des Moines, Iowa. History Des Moines United was founded as a futsal club in 2017 and joined UPSL in 2021. After two seasons in UPSL, they joined NPSL for 2023. The club also connected to its futsal roots by launching an indoor team.
