2023 Malaysia Cup Final
The 2023 Malaysia Cup final was a association football, football match played on 8 December 2023, to determine the champion of the 2023 Malaysia Cup. It was the final game of the 97th edition of the Malaysia Cup, organized by the Football Association of Malaysia. The final was played at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium in Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur. The match featured Johor Darul Ta'zim F.C., Johor Darul Ta'zim, defending champions of the competition, and Terengganu F.C., Terengganu. The final was refereed by S. Logeswaran in front of 80,550 spectators. Johor Darul Ta'zim scored first in the opening six minutes from Bergson (footballer), Bergson, but Terengganu came back with goals from Ivan Mamut to level the match by the end of half time. Feroz Baharudin and Arif Aiman Hanapi, Arif Aiman scored the winner in second half to secured a 4th victory in the competition for Johor Darul Ta'zim, also successfully defend the title. The Bukit Jalil National Stadium ( Malay: Stadium Nasional Bukit Jalil) in Bukit Jalil, located in the National Sports Complex to the south of the city centre of Malaysia's capital city, Kuala Lumpur, is an all-seater multi-purpose stadium and the home ground of the Malaysian national football team. With a capacity of 87,411, it is the largest in Southeast Asia, third largest in Asia, and the eighth largest football stadium in the world. Ahmad Syihan Hazmi Bin Mohamed (born 22 February 1996) is a Malaysian professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Malaysia Super League side Johor Darul Ta'zim and the Malaysian national team. Club career Ahmad Syihan started his career with Bukit Jalil Sports School in 2012. The following year, he joined Harimau Muda C which was competing in the 2013 Malaysia FAM League. 2023 Malaysia Cup Knockout Stage
The 2023 Malaysia Cup knockout stage began on 3 August with the round of 16 and ended in 8 December 2023 with the final at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium, Kuala Lumpur, to decide the champions of the 2023 Malaysia Cup. A total of 16 teams competed in the knockout stage. Schedule The draw for the 2023 Malaysia Cup was held on 15 June 2023. Format Each tie in the knockout phase, apart from the final, was played over two legs, with each team playing one leg at home. The team that scored more goals on aggregate over the two legs advanced to the next round. A penalty shoot-out (officially kicks from the penalty mark) is a tie-breaking method in association football to determine which team is awarded victory in a match that cannot end in a draw, when the score is tied after the normal time as well as extra time (if used) have expired. In a penalty shoot-out, each team takes turns shooting at goal from the penalty mark, with the goal defended only by the opposing team's goalkeeper. Each team has five shots which must be taken by different kickers; the team that makes more successful kicks is declared the victor. Shoot-outs finish as soon as one team has an insurmountable lead. If scores are level after five pairs of shots, the shootout progresses into additional " sudden-death" rounds. Overtime (sports)
Overtime or extra time is an additional period of play specified under the rules of a sport to bring a game to a decision and avoid declaring the match a tie or draw where the scores are the same.
