2023 League1 British Columbia Season
The 2023 League1 British Columbia season was the second season of play for League1 British Columbia, a pro-am league in the Canadian soccer league system. Eight clubs participated in both the men's and women's divisions. Format The regular season was contested by eight clubs and ran from April 29 to July 23, 2023. Each team played 14 games in a double Round-robin tournament, round-robin format with seven games at home and seven on the road. The top four teams advanced to the playoffs with the Championship Final held on the Civic Holiday#British Columbia, BC Day long weekend. The men's and women's divisions used identical schedules with the two matches being played as double-headers on the same day. Men's division The teams played each other team twice (home and away) for a 14-game season, with the top four teams advancing to the playoffs. League1 British Columbia (L1BC) is a Semi-professional sports, semi-professional men's and women's association football, soccer league in British Columbia, Canada. The league is sanctioned by the Canadian Soccer Association and the British Columbia Soccer Association, BC Soccer Association as a Division III Pro-Am league in the Canadian soccer league system. In the Canadian soccer league system, the men's division is behind the Canadian Premier League (CPL). It is part of League1 Canada, the national third tier with regional division, with L1BC equaivalent to Ligue1 Québec (L1QC), League1 Ontario (L1ON), and League1 Alberta (L1AB). The men's league champion qualifies for the Canadian Championship, the domestic cup championship, for the following season. Sydney Wathuta (born June 11, 2004) is a Canadian soccer player who plays for MLS Next Pro club Colorado Rapids 2. Early life Wathuta played youth soccer with Power FC, Calgary Blizzard SC and New Frontier SC. In 2014, he had a training stint in England with Brentford. Luke Norman (soccer)
Luke Thomas Norman (born 16 December 1971) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Melbourne in the Australian Football League (AFL). Norman was originally from Wangaratta and was selected by Melbourne with pick 68 in the 1994 National Draft. A defender, he made nine appearances in the 1995 AFL season and another seven in the 1996 season.
