2023 Kuwaiti National Assembly
The 2023 Kuwaiti National Assembly (commonly known as Majlis 2023) was the 17th legislative session of the National Assembly. Members were elected on 6 June 2023. The session started on 20 June 2023. The session was dissolved on 15 February 2024 due to Abdulkarim Al-Kanderi allegedly insulting Emir Mishal Al-Ahmad. General elections After the 2022 election results were annulled on 19 March, elections were held on 6 June 2023. 38 MPs kept their seats from the annulled 2022 parliament. The Opposition kept its majority in parliament, while only one woman was elected. The turnout was 59.27% of the 470,369 voters that cast their votes. Hadas and Salafis both won three seats, and the Shiite Taalof group won two seats. The 42 remaining seats were won by unaffiliated MPs. The rate of change in elected members was 24%, compared to the 2022 elections. Islamic Salafi Alliance
The Islamic Salafi Alliance ( ar, التجمع الإسلامي السلفي) is a Salafi political grouping in Kuwait headed by Khaled al-ـSultan Bin Essa. Its founded in 1981. Of the fifty elected members of Kuwait National Assembly three seats belong to the Islamic Salafi Alliance since the 2013 elections. In the February 2012 general elections the Islamic Salafi Alliance managed to capture four seats, and another six were taken by people with similar ideas. Kuwait's Second Constituency
The second constituency of Kuwait is a legislative constituency in Kuwait. Like the other four constituencies in Kuwait, it elects exactly 10 members to the National Assembly via plurality vote. As of 2022, it currently represents eighteen residential areas and has an electorate of 90,478 (the smallest). Hamad Mohammed Al-Midlij (Arabic: حمد محمد المدلج, born 1984) is a Kuwaiti politician who is currently serving as a member of National Assembly since 2023.
