2023 Kazakh Local Elections
Local elections are set to be held in Kazakhstan on 19 March 2023 to elect a total of 3,415 seats to 223 mäslihats (local assemblies) across all regions of Kazakhstan. The local elections will be held alongside 2023 legislative elections and were held under the basis of mixed-member majoritarian representation, which for the first time since 2016 reinstated single-member districts that were previously abolished in 2018. The local elections were initially announced by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev during the State of the Nation Address on 1 September 2022. He then signed a presidential decree on 19 January 2023 which dissolved the tenure of all mäslihats and set the election date. A Maslikhat () is a local representative body (parliament) in Kazakhstan that is elected by a population of a region, district and city. 2022 Kazakh Presidential Election
Snap presidential elections were held in Kazakhstan on 20 November 2022 to elect the President of Kazakhstan. This was the seventh presidential election since Kazakhstan's independence from the Soviet Union in 1991. Incumbent president Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, an Independent, was re-elected for a second term in a landslide, receiving 81% of the vote. His closest challenger, Jiguli Dairabaev of the Auyl Party, received just 3% of the vote, marking the first time since 2015 that all candidates other than the incumbent president failed to garner 5% or more of the vote. A snap election is an election that is called earlier than the one that has been scheduled. 2022 Kazakh Constitutional Referendum
A constitutional referendum in Kazakhstan, locally called the Republican referendum (; ), was held on 5 June 2022. It was the third referendum since Kazakhstan's independence in 1991, and the first since the 1995 Kazakh constitutional referendum, 1995 referendum that established the current constitution. 2022 Kazakh Unrest
The 2022 Kazakh unrest, also known as Bloody January () or the January tragedy (), was a series of mass protests that began in Kazakhstan on 2 January 2022 after a sudden sharp increase in liquefied gas prices following the lifting of a government-enforced price cap on 1 January. Adal (political Party)
Adal (), known as Birlik () until 2020, was a centre-right political party in Kazakhstan that was formed as a result of merger between Rukhaniyat Party and Democratic Party Adilet on 26 April 2013. Auyl People's Democratic Patriotic Party
The "Auyl" People's Patriotic Democratic Party (, ''«Auyl» Halyqtyq-demokratialyq patriottyq partiasy''; AHDPP) or simply as "Auyl" HDPP, is a political party in Kazakhstan.
