2023 Besta Deild Karla
The 2023 Besta deild karla was the 112th season of top-flight Icelandic football. It was the second season of the league after it was rebranded as ''Besta deild karla''. The winners (Víkingur Reykjavík) qualified for the 2024–25 Champions League first qualifying round. The second, third, and fourth-placed teams ( Breiðablik, Stjarnan, and Valur) qualified for the 2024–25 Conference League first qualifying round. The bottom two teams ( ÍBV and Keflavík) were relegated to the 2024 1. deild karla. Knattspyrnufélagið Víkingur (, ) , commonly referred to as Víkingur Reykjavík (to distinguish them from Víkingur Ólafsvík) and internationally known as Vikingur F.C., is a professional Icelandic sports club based in the Fossvogur neighbourhood of Reykjavík. It is one of the oldest sports clubs in Iceland, founded on 21 April 1908. Originally founded as a football club, it is now a multi-sport club that also operates divisions in handball, tennis, table tennis, karate and skiing. All sports include both male and female teams. FH Men's Football
The FH men's football team, commonly referred to as FH, is the men's football department of Fimleikafélag Hafnarfjarðar multi-sport club. It has been a dominant power in Icelandic football since the early 2000s, winning several national championships. History Early history FH's football department was founded after 1939 when talks between FH and Haukar regarding a joint football team broke down. FH were promoted to the first division in football for the first time in 1975. They avoided relegation by one place and two points in 1979 before being relegated in last place in 1981. Hafnarfjörður, officially Hafnarfjarðarkaupstaður, is a port town and municipality in Iceland, located about south of Reykjavík. The Valur men's football team, commonly known as Valur (, ), is the men's football department of the Knattspyrnufélagið Valur multi-sport club. The club is based in Reykjavík, Iceland, and currently plays in the Besta deild karla, the top league of men's football in Iceland. The team plays its home games at Hlíðarendi in Reykjavík. Íþróttafélagið Leiknir (, ), commonly known as Leiknir Reykjavík (), is an Icelandic multi-sport club.
