2022–23 Saudi First Division League
The 2022–23 First Division League (known as the Yelo League for sponsorship reasons) is the 2nd season of the Saudi First Division League after its rebrand, and the 46th season of the Saudi First Division since its establishment in 1976. The season started on 22 August 2022 and will conclude in May 2023. Overview Changes On 9 October 2020, the Saudi FF announced that the number of teams in the league would be decreased to 18 starting from the 2022–23 season. Due to this decision, 5 teams were relegated last season instead of the usual 4 teams. In addition, only 3 teams were promoted from the Second Division instead of 4 teams. On 14 April 2022, the Saudi FF announced that the number of teams in the Pro League would be increased from 16 to 18 teams. To prepare for this change, only 2 teams would be relegated to the First Division League and 4 teams would be promoted to the Pro League. Saudi First Division League
The First Division League (FDL for short), also called the Yelo league for sponsorship reasons, is the second tier of professional football in Saudi Arabia. The First Division League is ranked below the Saudi Professional League and above the Saudi Second Division in the Saudi Arabian football league system. All of the FDL clubs qualify for the King Cup, the annual Saudi Cup competition. Al-Hazem are the most recent champions, winning their second title during the 2020–21 season. The number of clubs in the league has changed throughout history, most recently in the 2018–19 season, when the number of clubs increased from 16 to 20. 2023–24 Saudi First Division League
The 2023–24 First Division League (known as the Yelo League for sponsorship reasons) was the third season of the Saudi First Division League after its rebrand, and the 47th season of the Saudi First Division since its establishment in 1976. The season started on 14 August 2023 and concluded on 28 May 2024. On 6 May, Al-Qadsiah became the first team to be promoted following a 2–2 draw with Ohod. They were crowned champions following a 4–2 win against Al-Najma on 13 May. On 21 May, Al-Kholood and Al-Orobah became the final two clubs to be promoted following wins over Al-Safa and Al-Jabalain respectively. On 30 April, Al-Taraji became the first team to be relegated after a 4–1 defeat away to Al-Kholood. On 13 May, Hajer became the second team to be relegated following a 2–1 defeat to Al-Faisaly. Al Nahda ( ar, نادي النهضة) is a Saudi football club from Al-Khobar, Dammam. They currently playing in the Saudi First Division. Al-Diriyah Club () is a Saudi Arabian football club based in Diriyah. Founded in 1976, the club competes in the MS League , the second tier of Saudi football. Al-Diriyah play their home games at the Prince Turki bin Abdul Aziz Stadium in Riyadh. Al-Diriyah have won the Saudi Second Division once in 2013 and finished as runners-up once in 2020. The club was founded by Saad Al-Rashed and Abdulrahman bin Sarye'e and its first president was Abdullah Al-Jadaie. Al-Jeel Club () is a Saudi Arabian football club based in Hofuf, Al-Hasa. Founded in 1976, the club competes in the MS League , the second tier of Saudi football. Al-Jeel play their home games at the Prince Abdullah bin Jalawi Stadium in Al-Hasa. Al-Jeel have finished as runners-up in the Saudi Second Division twice in 1986 and 2010. The 2022–23 Saudi Second Division was the 46th season of the Saudi Second Division since its establishment in 1976. The season began on 30 September 2022 and concluded on 30 April 2023 with the final. The group stage draw was held on 9 June 2022. Fixtures for the 2022–23 season were announced on 25 August 2022. The final was played on 30 April 2023 between Al-Najma and Al-Taraji. Al-Najma defeated Al-Taraji 2–1 to win their third title and first since 2010.
