2022–23 SMU Mustangs Men's Basketball Team
The 2022–23 SMU Mustangs men's basketball team represented Southern Methodist University during the 2022–23 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Mustangs were led by first-year head coach Rob Lanier and played their home games at Moody Coliseum on their campus in University Park, Texas as members of the American Athletic Conference. They finished the season 10–21, 5–13 in AAC play to finish in tenth place. They were defeated by UCF in the first round of the AAC tournament. Previous season The Mustangs finished the 2021–22 season 24–9, 13–4 in AAC play to finish in second place. Rob Lanier
Robert A. Lanier (born July 24, 1968) is an American college basketball coach who currently serves as the head coach for the Rice Owls. Previously, he was the head coach at Southern Methodist University. He also served as the head coach at Georgia State from 2019 to 2022 and Siena from 2001 to 2005. Playing career Lanier played his college basketball at St. Bonaventure, where he scored 868 career points and was named to the Atlantic 10 Conference All-Freshman Team. Coaching career Lanier's first coaching stop was at Niagara as an assistant for two seasons before moving back to an assistant coaching spot at his alma mater. After a two-year stop at Rutgers, Lanier joined Rick Barnes's staff at Texas. The 2021–22 Nicholls Colonels men's basketball team represented Nicholls State University in the 2021–22 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Colonels, led by fourth-year head coach Austin Claunch, played their home games at Stopher Gymnasium in Thibodaux, Louisiana as members of the Southland Conference. They finished the season 21–12, 11–3 in Southland Play to finish as regular season champions. They lost in the semifinals of the Southland tournament to Texas A&M Corpus-Christi. Roeland Park, Kansas
Roeland Park is a city in Johnson County, Kansas, United States, and located within the Kansas City metropolitan area. As of the 2020 census, the population of the city was 6,871. History The community was named after John Roe, an immigrant from Ireland who settled on in 1883, on part of which Roeland Park now stands. Michael Weathers (born August 5, 1997) is an American professional basketball player for MLP Academics Heidelberg of the Basketball Bundesliga. He played college basketball for the Miami RedHawks, Oklahoma State Cowboys, Texas Southern Tigers and SMU Mustangs. Weathers was selected as the Austrian Basketball Superliga Most Valuable Player while playing for the Klosterneuburg Dukes in 2024.
