The 2022–23 season was FC Volendam's 46th season in existence and the club's first season back in the top flight of Dutch football since 2009. In addition to the domestic league, FC Volendam participated in this season's edition of the KNVB Cup. FC Volendam
Football Club Volendam () is a professional football club based in Volendam, Netherlands. They play in the Eredivisie, the top tier of Dutch football from the 2022–23 season following promotion. Nicknamed "de Palingboeren", the club was founded as Victoria in 1920, changed its name to RKSV Volendam in 1923 and emerged as an exclusively professional club, FC Volendam, in 1977, following a split from its parent club. The team plays its home matches in the 6,984-capacity Kras Stadion, where it has been based since 1975. The club has a reputation as the ''heen-en-weer club'' ("the back-and-forth club") due to its numerous promotions and relegations between the first and second tiers of Dutch football. They have achieved ten promotions to the Eredivisie; a record. Benaissa Benamar ( ar, بنعيسى بنعمر; born 8 April 1997) is a professional footballer who plays as a centre-back for club Volendam. Born in the Netherlands, he has represented Morocco at youth level. Club career Early years Benamar played in the youth departments of Dutch clubs VVA/Spartaan, Ajax, AFC, Volendam, Zeeburgia and ADO Den Haag. Between 2016 and 2018, he played for Jong FC Twente, the second-team of FC Twente with whom he suffered relegation from the Tweede Divisie to the Derde Divisie in his first season. In 2018, Jong FC Twente was removed from the Dutch football pyramid, and Benamar left for Moroccan club Ittihad Tanger. Feyenoord Rotterdam () is a Dutch professional football club in Rotterdam, which plays in the Eredivisie, the top tier in Dutch football. Francesco Antonucci (born 20 June 1999) is a Belgian professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Feyenoord. A Belgium youth international, Antonucci played in the academies of Anderlecht and Ajax, before being signed by Monaco in 2017. Calvin Twigt (born 30 January 2003) is a Dutch professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Eredivisie club Volendam. Club career Twigt started his youth career with SC Buitenveldert before moving to the academy of FC Volendam.
